1. Dack forever chasing everything down 2. McGlashan some decent runs, that just needed that final little touch when delivered in the box 3. Hessy, always composed and rarely puts a foot wrong Not in my top three but Egan looking promising again and credit to Bywater for staying composed to make that save from the lobbed ball just under the bar
We may have lost this game but I have to say I was impressed with the performance. We have played a lot worse than that and still won the game so to play well and lose is very disappointing. It is simple, if we had done more with our possession and been a bit more lethal we would have at least got a point and maybe even gone onto win the game. We really missed Kedwell up front as Cody looked isolated. McGlashan is really starting to stand out as a very good player and I was yet again very impressed with him. He looks so much better than Weston and I feel he is more creative and works harder to get the ball and make the runs which is what I like to see in a gills player. Tough one to pick the top 3 as I think the top 2 are close together and then it is between 2 or 3 for third place. 1. McGlashan- He just kept on running down the wing all night trying to create chances. If Kedwell had played I think he would have got onto the end of something and either scored or got the ball to cody to put away. It was yet again another great performance from him and I hope he becomes a regular starting 11 player. 2. Hessenthaler- It was between him and Hause for 2nd and was a tough choice. Hessenthaler worked very hard in midfield and was very good. He has become a key player this season which is something that I was hoping he would become. Passing was decent and work rate was as good as usual. 3. Hause- I have to say Hause has really impressed me of late and has massively improved from what he was like when he first joined. He looks such a solid unit and it is easy to forget that he is only 19 years old. I really hope we can extend his loan until the end of the season as I feel that would not just benefit him but also us. When he first joined the club he did look a little bit raw but now we are playing him in a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 it does seem to suit him more as he seems better suited to a 4 at the back rather than 3 centre backs and 2 wing backs. I have heard a lot of people talking about the side and saying that the defence is shocking however I don't think this is the case, I think the defence is far superior to the ones who played last season and I just think it was the case of them gelling which I think they have done. I think they will continue to improve as we are really early in the season and some people forget that this is a really young defence with Egan and Hause only being 21 and 19 respectively. I am very happy with Hause as he looks the perfect partner for Egan and it impresses me how organised they are considering how young they are. I think this defence will concede a lot less and although they let Nouble in last night that is all they done wrong and I feel that now they have got used to playing with each other we will concede a lot less goals than we did last season and also like we have done so far this season. Our only problem is injuries. If we keep on getting them then that will hamper our season and then we could struggle. I don't think we can cope without Kedwell in the team as well as Loft, they are two players who are really important and I feel that they have a massive influence on the team. If we had them two in the side last night I feel they would have made the difference and we would have won the game. Cody needs a strong target man like Kedwell next to him so if he is injured then we need to bring someone in on loan as we need someone else. I think we should have started Luke Norris as I feel it would have made more sense to play him than Dickenson as I think Norris would have done more to make sure that Cody was not isolated. Anyway overall not a bad game and a lot of promise so far this season. I think we will be fine this season anyway. One thing that I see which impressed me was how young this side is. The average age of the team was under 23 and out of all the players who played for us last night including subs 9 out of 14 were under 23 years old which is something which we should be proud of. Also yet again we started with 3 players who come through our youth system with also one more on the bench.
