I know there is starting to be quite a few rumblings with the fans about the stadium situation

A few fans are starting to say what the bl**dy h*ll is going on

Ok we understand that we cant rush into anything, but it is 18 months now since FSG bought LFC..... and nothing has happened

We got told to say whether we were interested in buyin season tickets , via the season ticket waiting list update, whcih was supposed to be finished over 6 months ago which still isnt finished

If we are to compete,we need the extra money from 20/30k fans asap, especially if FFP REALLY comes in

We dont even know what the plan is yet, never mind executing it

The stadium issue cos of the dallying really needs to be sorted....... QUICKLY

FSG need to get there fingers out

When I saw the thread name, I thought something had been announced!

I wouldn't expect any news until the end of the season. I think we'll get some news about the situation in the summer. If I remember correctly, before the Q.P.R game, Ian Ayre went on Sky Sports News and said that it takes time etc. but said that if we were to move, we need a sponsor for the ground (We know this already...) but I swear he said that the club was looking into finding a sponsor to help fund a new ground if that is gonna be the choice of FSG.

Its something like 6 years since the infamous "spades in the ground" photos and comments about the new stadium and it doesn't feel any closer now than it was then (I live in Liverpool). Looking at how FSG renovated the old ground in the baseball ground rather than build a new one i'm not sure its on the horizon to be honest.

We desperately need a new stadium, as Anfield was fit for the 70's and 80's. Question is will the owners want to spend £300m on 20,000 extra seats. I don't think so. Naming rights are the way forward. That way we can invest in the squad every season and get into champions league

I reckon they are just being cautious with announcements. H&G made promises they couldnt keep. John Henry wants to be careful.

I still think they are looking at developing Anfield, just trying to find the way how...

Whatever they are doing its gettin to the stage now, things need to be done,QUICKLY,FSG have owned the club 18 months, and there still is no news on the stadium, every month that goes by we are further behind the likes of Yernited and L'Arse and the revenues they pull in.

I've given up banging on about this after twenty years...had we been bolder in the 90's this wouldn't be an issue now. An extra 10 000 on the capacity then would've netted us around an extra £150 mill quid over the last 15 to 20 years. Instead we've had false promise after false promise. This obssession with a new stadium is a farce and a total white elephant IMO.

the last i heard they were "trying to find" a stadium sponsor. I beleive that there are two scenarios here.

    1. fsg are doing nothing but blowing smoke exactly like G&H

    2. Once they get a sponsor they will commence work.

either way there's nothing ican do about it so i don't worry about it.

Just a hunch but I don't think FSG will be here much longer. I think they've been mightily surprised by how much money a club needs to get into the top 4 and at the constant focus on the club.

Looking for Sponsors = Looking for buyers. IMO anyway.

    I don't know about that.

there are some things you can look at both ways.

    1. most appointments made are internal... like kenny, ayre, even in the youth set up. other than a couple of coaches we've not seen anyone come in as thier appointments. that could be their way or them just going and doing enough

    2. I think they got us on the cheap and 40mil is nothing. I do have to wonder if they will spend more this summer or not.

Oh, FFS, is the sky falling in again?

"Promise less, deliver more." Remember that? It's not FSG who need to get the finger out, it's Chicken Lickens who need to stop squawking with their thumbs up their dressing room tunnels. When there's something to say the club will say it. FSG have created fan committees for more two-way communication but no news is not automatically bad news. No news in this case means there's nothing to announce.

When Kenny returned he stressed the need to get back to the Liverpool Way of doing backroom stuff in the background and treating the fans with respect. Some younger or newer fans may not remember H&G-era LFC, when the club was riven with secret briefings between factions. Were you any wiser about what was going on back then? It seems to me all the media speculation just made it more confusing.

TalkSport and SSN may insist Liverpool have a duty to feed their bulletins but that's not what the club is about and we should not jetison the great traditions of this club for the sake of a few media muppets who only want a headline. If you want TalkSport and SSN to ruin the club just think back to how the media had the club bought by either Huang or Kurdi. You heard nothing about NESV and the media knew nothing about it, either.

Yeah, £50m in for Torres and a boosted shirt deal must've been a big strain on their finances and winning the Carling Cup on their first full season must've hurt like a bitch.

Calm down lads, they need to put a fair amount of time into this. Remember 18 months isn't that long considering they had other issues to concentrate on first. By the time they got started there was the issue of whether to build or renovate, this was never going to be over night. I think they said they are not going to use previous proposed designs if they were to build.I would rather hear nothing and nothing happen than be told something is going to happen then not al la H&G.

Yeah but this is an issue that has been going on for many, many years before H&Gs time (I remember talk in the early '80s of plans for a shared 80 000 all seater stadium at Aintree). It's not really a question of doing it behind closed doors when it comes to building a ruddy big stadium. While they could adopt the previous owners plans and thus avoid trawling through the need for gaining planning permission again, if those plans weren't workable before then how will they be now? Any new plans or alterations will have to be submitted again and subjected to public processes anyway. I'm not sure these are decisions LFC should be making without consulting locals and fans more often and updating them even if it's only once every few months as they are decisions that not only impact on the club but also the wider local community.

It's not really a question of us as fans being impatient....personally I think as a fan base we've been way too patient (some would say gullible) over the last two decades and been passed off with excuse after excuse. Nothing's happened despite many pounds/dollars being spent on design fees and "consultants fees" all to absolutely no avail. Maybe it's about time we either get it bloody done or just draw a line under it for good and redevelop Anfield as (IMO) we should have done a better job of in the 90's.

    nah.

They need to make profit etc. Every one looks for sponsors.

Abromovich will do the same if he gets to buy the battersea power station site for Chelsea to build on.
City changed Eastlands to the Etihad stadium.
Newcastle changed to the Sports Direct Arena.

Even look at the FA. If you look you will see the next FA cup round is actually called 'The FA Cup Budweiser Semi Final'.

The national team seems to be sponsored by almost every one.

Also, because of the new rules, clubs can only spend profits on transfers, so clubs need to find lots of new ways to bring in extra profits. Owners cant just pump in their own money. Sponsors is an easy tool.

They have already got deal in place to seriously up our profit margins, like the Warrior kit deal for example.

FSG are building for the long term.
