I (much like everyone else) am absolutely devastated with how the season has panned out. After a pre-season of promise and the inevitable clear-out (which we all desired), something has not translated onto the pitch. At the very least we should have had a minimum of 5 points on the board off our first 5 games this season. However, that is not to be and we are at the bottom of the table, confidence in both the team and amongst the supporters at an all time low, with the only considerable points in the up & coming fixtures coming from the most unpredictable of games in the derby.

My question for Not606 is would it be not beneficial to stick as opposed to twist?

The turnover of managers since the Peter Reid days has been incredible. With a new manager, comes new ideas/philosophies which brings new players. We all agreed that MON approach of adding one or two players of quality did not work and a major overhaul and start again was needed. However, if we get rid of Di Canio, will it not be the same case again for another manager? We need some form of foundations to build on. If we live by this decision and it fails, then so be it. At least we have supported the manager and gave his ideas ago. I really can’t for the life of me see the point in bringing a manager in constantly at the end of each season to give us a kick up the arse, then next year as soon as things go bad we do it again and end up in the endless cycle.

Look at our nearest and dearest and it has had no positive effect on them. After one of their most successful periods with Keegan, they constantly changed manager year after year until they were relegated. Just have a look:
    Keegan 92 - 97 (stability brought success)
    Daglish - 97 - 98
    Guillit - 98 - 99
Sir Bobby Robson 99 - 04 (yet again more stability had an upturn in fortune)
    Souness - 04 - 06
    Roeder - 06-07
    Allardyce - 07 - 08
    Keegan - 08 - 08
    JFK - 08 - 09
    Shearer - 09 - 09
    Hughton - 09 - 10
    Partridge - 10 - to present

Do we really want to fall into this trap? If we rid ourselves of PDC, thats 4 managers in 4 years. Our most successful period in recent seasons was the stability we had under Reid. I for one would like to give PDC the chance. He has his faults but what human being doesn’t? However, i love the fact he attempts to address the fans instead of hiding and he is trying to play attacking football. We need to weather the storm and hopefully, light will be at the end of the tunnel.

If there was even a miniscule amount of chance the PDC could turn this round I'd agree but I am 100% convinced that he is a very poor manager.

I'd say stabilize around a quality manager 100% and we would prosper. However, PDC is a anything but a quality manager and to stick with him invites nothing but utter failure.
