I'd suspect it'll either be Davies, Chester, Meyler or Huddlestone. Chester might be too inexperienced; it'll no doubt be somebody who's played in the Premier League.
I don't like this way of numbering. I would just go by alphabetical order - ignoring "The" - and tacking anybody else on to the end. I've liked it ever since Argentina (don't we love them!) did it in 1978 with Ardiles number 1.
I think Koren would see it as a kick in the teeth if it was taken away from him and the other likely candidates will do a good job of organising on the pitch.
Agreed, you don't strip your top scorer of the captaincy. If you want to change it you wait until he's not in the team for a run of games, then say someone else has been made the team captain but he remains the club captain.
When was Koren even made captain? All throughout Hobbs injury Bruce was saying it's important to get him back he's the club captain etc... Then when he came back Koren remained captain
See my previous post, only replace "top scorer" with "seriously injured player". Where you can you should always make the change in a way that means people will view the replacement as a captain and not really notice that your old captain no longer leads the side out. I'm pretty sure Ashbee took the captaincy in the same way, was Greg Strong not the captain at the start of the season (under Molby) but got sent off on his debut and Ash just took over from then on?
Should have been Meyler - 4, Boyd - 7 (rather than 17). I wonder if Proschwitz can shake the bogey number curse
01 Aluko 02 Boyd 03 Brady 04 Bruce 05 Chester 06 Davies 07 Dudgeon 08 Elmohamady 09 Faye 10 Figueroa 11 Fryatt 12 Graham 13 Harper 14 Huddlestone 15 Jakupovic 16 Koren 17 Livermore 18 McGregor 19 McShane 20 Meyler 21 Proschwitz 22 Quinn 23 Rosenior 24 Sagbo There now. We're all much more comfortable with these numbers.
I said Boyd 7 because it is obvious that Aluko and Elmo have kept the numbers they want. Where-as Boyd has moved from 37 to 17.
