Following on from my comment on the W J Haggas interview yesterday in which, when pressed for a single best bet of his at Royal Ascot, he commented "We'll have one at the away races during Royal Ascot and that'll be the nap", I am trying to identify any runner trained by W J Haggas that is running during Royal Ascot but not at the Royal meeting. So far I have identified the following single entry but engagements beyond Tuesday aren't yet published: Tuesday 19th 3.25 Thirsk AL WAJBA The implication is that he has only 1 runner engaged outside Royal Ascot, but of course he could have a few engaged and his nap might not be the one engaged on Tuesday. Maybe, but I can only see one entered on Tuesday. Maybe worth watching jockey booking(s) and market moves.

Haggas is a very shrewd man and he may have been just using that to avert the question as he would not want to give away a possible horse that had been plotted towards a big Ascot handicap but quite rightly also not wanting to put people away on a less fancied runner. It will be easy to spot Ron as he's never go unbacked so just watch the movers from Tuesday onwards.
From those listed it may possibly be the debutant, Mama Quilla (6.40 Kempton, Wednesday) that old boy Haggas is referring to. Mama Quilla is a half-sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Whipper (who is now a decent stallion) and if displaying even a modicum of his ability could be a good ‘un herself. Also a couple of her half-brothers went through the sale ring for the whopping sums of $1.4 million and £1 million so there is obvious talent (or perceived talent at any rate) in her genes.
Interesting Barney. Has great AW pedigree by the looks of it; her sire is the sire of Curlin. I see the dam is by Sadlers Wells out of a Mill Reef mare. Tasty.
