I understand Legia are looking for compensation from UEFA. Strange, I thought it was about football not money.

    <laugh> Check the dummy.

Legia knew they had no chance. It was always about money.

Getting turfed out twice in the same qualifying round would be pretty bad. Still we're no' deid.

I hope he has adapted his tactics. Although it was great to watch on Saturday I doubt it will work away from home in Europe.

Here we have 23 pages on sporting integrity because Legia made a slight admin error, yet Celtic made an error trying to sign a player from Man City and are now writing to Fifa to have the decision turned around.

We filled the paperwork in on time it was the SFA that delayed it.

    From the BBC

The SFA and SPFL are in the process of contacting football's world governing body Fifa to ask for dispensation to register John Guidetti at Celtic.

The SPFL is satisfied that all the paperwork was in order but as it was filed after midnight on deadline day, a case is now being made for the deal to be allowed to proceed.

Celtic attempted to sign the Manchester City forward on loan on Monday night.

A joint statement from the SFA and SPFL read: "The SPFL had a 23:00 transfer deadline in place for registrations while the Scottish FA had a midnight deadline.

"At 22:56, the SPFL received a request from Celtic FC to extend the SPFL deadline for registration of John Guidetti to fall in line with the Scottish FA midnight deadline. The SPFL agreed to this request.

"Celtic FC began uploading the relevant documentation in respect of the player prior to the midnight deadline.

"Where an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) is required for a player, it is custom and practice for the player's registration to be conditional upon subsequent receipt of an ITC.

"Due to part of the registration documentation being received by the Scottish FA very shortly after midnight, Fifa have not allowed registration by the Scottish FA of the transfer.

"The SPFL and Scottish FA are writing to Fifa in support of Celtic FC's petition that Fifa permit the Scottish FA to register the player with the Scottish FA."

If you're uploading docs with minutes to spare, you've only got yourself to blame.

I can imagine me at work: "But, boss, it was only four minutes late."

"But, ye'd had months to do it and the meeting I needed it for started four minutes ago.

    Arsehole."

I had heard yesterday that the hold-up was due to City - if that's true, then it isn't Celtic's fault.

If that isn't true, then hell mend us.

Regardless who was late with the paperwork (Celtic. City or SFA) it was still late.

What's the point of a deadline if you can simply say "aye, we were only a few minutes late"?

I think it's based on the fact that there is some leeway in the system. Teams have been given extra time to complete transfers in the past.

Man Utd were given 2 extra hours to get the Falcao deal done on the same day.

The English FA closed the window at midnight (like every other FA in Europe) but the SFA, in their infinite wisdom, close at 11pm on deadline day.

Tom Cleverley was signed at 4pm yesterday, 16 hours after the deadline.

The difference is no one is losing out if Celtic do sign Guidetti...apart from the player himself. No club is being disadvantaged.
