For those of you who remember speedway in Bristol or go to Somerset, it's a big night tonight. Tai Woffinden needs 6 points from the final Grand Prix in Poland tonight to become Britain's first World Champion for 13 years (and by my reckoning the 8th ever) - it's on Eurosport GOOD LUCK TAI!!! PS - he's riding with a broken collarbone - tough lads these
Yep the best of luck to him. I'm lucky living in Cardiff???? as I get to go and see the British Grand Prix every year, without having to drive. Funny that Sky decided to drop the Grand Prix series but keeps showing elite speedway. Luckily Eurosport picked it up. Never know if they drop it, might end up on terrestrial someday.
The problem with it being on Eurosport is that it is not repeated as often as on Sky - like Shiny I used to watch it on Sunday morning I'm going to the Weymouth Beer Festival tonight so have got the Sky+ set for it
Used to love watching the Bristol Bulldogs at Eastville back in the day. We used to go away too, I remember places like Bellevue and White City. I was only a kid, but used to love that smell..
Saw this earlier on Facebook. I'm not into Speedway but thought you lot might like it http://www.bristolbulldogs.org.uk
Assume it did! Banksy - I took my wife to her first ever speedway meeting this year (Grand Prix at Cardiff) - first thing she commented on was the smell - it's methanol (I think)
Castrol GTX I was always told... Is methanol in that? I wish we could get the Bulldogs back and greyhound racing.. This ****in City.! I'm gonna go punch someone on a bike.
Never really into Speedway did have renthol handibars on my bike though. Used to like Superbikes when Foggy was ruling the world and GP.
Speedway365.com ‏@speedway365 29m Tai Woffinden has done enough to become the 2013 FIM Speedway World Champion.
Woffinden went away in the winter and got himself really fit. That (combined with some excellent machinery) was the difference for him. He raised a lot for cancer charities this year as well - good to see a young (he's 23) role model
Respect to him, although apart from one small mention on the news, haven't heard a thing on BBC since, I suppose we have so many world champions that one more doesn't bear mentioning????? BBC give the guy some credit FFS.
Excellent result for Tai just watched it on Eurosport and have followed the GP's since they started in the early 90's I have followed speedway since the mid 1970's and went to many meetings at now defunct tracks like Weymouth, Exeter, Reading, Middlesbrough, White City, Cradley Heath and Wimbledon and of course Bristol although it was a rubbish track being very narrow and a mixture of shale and sand The BBC are much too high and mighty to mention it often
