Saturday, 7pm kick off Don't know much about Udinese other than that they are Italian, play in the Champions League and that their talisman is veteran striker Antonio Di Natale (class player, despite his age). Can see both teams fielding strong lineups with the respective competitive seasons fast approaching. With that in mind, a positive result would be a good one. Predicted lineup: -----------------Davis------------------ Clyne-----Fonte-----Hooiveld-----Fox ---------Morgan-----JWP-------------- Puncheon-----Lallana------Rodriguez ---------------Lambert---------------- Give or take, it's probably how we'll line up against City. Prediction: 2-1 Saints win.
A positive result would be an incredible one. Udinese finished 3rd last season, they're far better than we are.
They've probably got one of the best ways of running a club aswell, will be interesting to see how Watford get on now they have been taken over by their owners. Udinese have sold two of their better players this summer to Juve (Asamoah and Isla), but they will be too strong for us imo, hope we can get a draw
I'd be surprised if Man U beat us that convincingly at St Mary's. They're good, but not impossibly better than us and it's on our turf. If we play well, I do believe we can win or at least get a hard earned draw.
Yeah, but I think Udinese pass the football around a lot better than us and Man Utd a bit like what Bilbao did when they played us in the ML cup and saints were outclassed as were Man Utd who should of lost about 4-0 in both legs.
My predicted lineup: Davis Clyne Fonte Hooiveld Shaw Davis Schneiderlin Puncheon Lallana Guly Sharp Subs to come on: Fox for Shaw JWP for Davis Hammond for Schneiderlin Chaplow for Lallana Lambert for Sharp Lee/Rodriguez (depending on if Lee is back which I highly doubt) for Guly Seaborne for Fonte De Ridder for Puncheon Subs not used: Gazzaniga Stephens Chambers Richardson
There is more chance of me playing on Saturday then there is of Lee playing - he's not going to be back until September.
Since when did people fanny about predicting results for friendlies seeing as friendly results mean jack ****?
Oh a mate told me he was in contention, I was hoping he was but clearly not, is it still the same injury as the one he got last season????
Ajax were an excellent passing side too and only beat us because we couldn't finish our chances and Fonte made one silly error. Once we got going, they didn't outclass us at all. Whatever the result, we've got enough quality of our own to make a game of it. We wouldn't have arranged the game if we knew before the whistle that we'd get twatted. The teams we'll play next season all pass the ball better than what we're used to, that's why they're in the PL and why we're testing ourelves against good sides like Ajax and Udinese now. People talk as if good European sides are better on a different scale than the top English teams. They aren't
We aren't all part time picky choosy supporters, some of us would support them if they played a game in the middle of the Solent!
Don't worry, I want to see Southampton win (not nearly as much as I do on actual games) but predicting the result of a friendly which is basically a lottery? Might as well start up a "post random numbers" thread.
September was predicted quite soon after the injury, so he isn't behind in his recovery yet. In France, he was shown doing a couple of stretching exercises. In pictures recently, he was shown gently running, so is making slow progress.
Saints 1-3 Udinese. I fancy Hooiveld, Fonte or Lambert to score our goal. ---------------------Davis----------------------- -Clyne-----Fonte-----------Hooiveld---Shaw- -------------------------------------------------- ----------Morgan-----------Prowsey----------- --------------------Lallana---------------------- -------------------------------------------------- ---Guly-----------------------------Rodriguez-- -------------------Lambert---------------------- More of a 4-3-3 than a 4-2-3-1. Davis to come on at Half-time for JWP and Richardson to replace Clyne with about 25 minutes to go
