Seen a article that Saints will be charging blind people £300 odd for a season ticket. Is this unfair? Or do you see it like me, that they are still going to the game so should be charged something. What do you think?
Always hard when somethings free before, but should pay something if taking up a seat that could be sold. If I read it correctly, the enabler's ticket is free.
I don't want to offend anyone, but why would a blind person want a season ticket? I suppose you have to treat them like regular people. If I was blind, I think that's what I'd want.
I think a discount would be the best option, can't let them in free as that's prejudice against supporters willing to pay to get in. Tough and probably touchy subject though.
They're taking up a seat so yes of course they should be charged, if they don't like it then surely they should just listen on the radio? Or is this some sort of joke? Why would a blind person want to go and WATCH a football match? The mind boggles.
I thought that at first then thought that Saints are now a Premiership side again and are more likely to fill St Marys every home game compared to the lower divisions so make business sense.
I used to know a blind guy, West Ham fan, who regularly goes to The Boleyn ground, as well as Lords, and Newmarket for the racing. I never asked him what he payed, but I do know he enjoyed being at live sports as much as the next guy. People with him used to give him a running commentary at football, while at Cricket you can get headphones and radio commentary, and with Horse Racing you have a tannoy commentary.
One of our best known fans is blind - Peter White who presents You and Yours on Radio 4! He probably knows more about the players than most of us sighted ones. Next time England play forget the TV and listen to the radio instead! They describe it as it is!!
Are blind people not disabled then? I'd say so. Pay the disabled rate. HOWEVER what I do think is you would suspect that Saints would've known they were going to charge blind supporters as of this season. If this was the case it would have been good customer service to notify them in advance.
Not being nasty but anyone who takes up a seat should pay a price, maybe a little bit off the ticket but I don't see why it should be free, I don't mean to offend anyone by saying that.
If a game is on tv, why go to watch it live? Your reasons are likely to be similar to that of a blind fan. It's all about the atmosphere, but I do think a blind fan should pay at the same concession rate as disabled fans.
Its all about the atmosphere - when a sense is lost the remaining ones can be enhanced - as for pricing its a business decision hopefully based on what other clubs do so a balanced outcome is achieved.
Yeah, I'm surprised how few of you think there is no point going to a match, clearly the noise and atmosphere is very different and a blind attendee will have no problem experiencing that.
A blind persons hearing senses are heightened because of his/her disability. When Saints were in the lower leagues the chances of a full house were very slim so surely the policy would be for bums on seats. What point would be gained by having seats empty...increases the atmosphere etc. I personally think the person was lucky to get the championship matches free....but that is just my opinion. Also remember that technically it is not just the one seat but two. I think if you ask most disabled people if they should contribute I think you will find they will say they should (always assuming they can contribute) The article referred to by the OP was suggesting and asking was £300 too much and whether it was fair to start charging again without warning, I think you will find. On this front there is no clear answer in my opinion......I do not know what the policy was under the old regime and again when we were in the top league. I would suggest that we charged then and so it is no different now. I am not sure how the Administration would have been able to advise more in advance of the price hike if that is what you would call it, as this too is a new phenomenon for them also.
This season I am having to pay nearly three and a half times as much for the same seat as I did two seasons ago. If you are blind and go into Tescos they don't give you your groceries for free.
