Heading over at lunchtime from the pissing rain of Belfast for a weekend of fine dining, debauchery and of course the match on Sunday. I still can't believe how lucky we were that the game was moved to 1.30pm and not 4pm as we would not have been able to make it in that case. I'm taking my girlfriend over for the first time and she's genuinely excited, it's going to be strange floating about Southampton for two days before any football though! I'm thinking of taking her to Ocean Village tonight for some cocktails and such, so if anybody can recommend good bars around there that would be much appreciated. I'm not even tied down to that area so anywhere else that would be good to take a sophisticated lady then by all means throw it in, so to speak. As for the match on Sunday... I watched Swansea's home game against FC St Gallen last night and I wasn't that impressed at all. They just seemed toothless in front of goal and I'd say they were lucky enough to come away with all three points. People keep referring to their famous win against Valencia in the Mestalla but seem to be forgetting it was against ten men for 80 minutes! I think we're too solid at the back and if we can score 2 goals at home we win. I was at the same fixture last season when we should have beaten them but for a defensive mix-up, I don't think they will cope with Poch's style of pressing and I'm predicting 2-0 Saints. Have a top weekend everyone!
A dry weekend in the South in prospect for you too, with a bit of Sun thrown in for good measure. Should be a fairly pleasant weekend of weather.
Pitcher and Piano in ocean village, although there's building work going on nearby. Banana warf also in ocean village. Personally i would go to oxford street- the oxford brasserie is good but bit overpriced. The white star is nice for drinks and food.
Yeh I've been to Simon's down there a couple of times and the food and service were both superb. What are the bars like down there? We won't be getting a taxi somewhere until after dinner time, so looking for a nice bar or two that serve cocktails and we can dress up for.
Of course, just to be annoying, it looks like it's going to chuck it down at the moment, plus there is meant to be some overnight rain, but the days are forecast to be good.
Cargos is not bad in Oxford St for cocktails etc and is slightly cheaper than the white star. Decent atmosphere too
The white star is lovely, used to be even nicer but it's still a really good place to go out and have a nice meal and drinks.
Enjoy the weekend NiSaint!Going over to my 1st game of the season in a few weeks for the Hull game myself...Should be two clubs up in the CL spots by then
