ahead of giggs or scholes ? what are you on ?. Song is good for about 60 mins , then it all goes pear shaped .
Well, you are wrong about Song giving the ball away - because the stats show that he doesn't. I can't see how you can think that someone who is worse than a semi -pro player could fool everybody at Arsenal FC into playing him repeadedly in the first team, I really think you are a bit strange saying that. It is amazing arrogance from you that you wouldn't doubt yourself, rather than insisting that Song is rubbish and he has fooled all those people at the club. And that you believe you are better. Quite bizzare.
I've gone through this before Toledo, but maybe not with you so I shall explain again. I've played football with pros and semi pros, a lot of my mates turned pro and I used to play with them as amateurs. I've been around ballers all my life, I've played with semi pro ballers who made the step up and those that did - the common theme with the players hat made the step up is speed of thought and technique. Song doesn't have either in my opinion, to me all Song is is a decent ball playing CB, nothing more. He has no technique at all when he kicks the ball, in fact, I have only ever seen him kick the ball one way, the way basic amateurs kick it. I've NEVER seen him kick the ball with "fade" for example. For great examples of this, see Paul Scholes, when he switches play, when the ball MUST be kicked dead straight - when there is no room to allow the ball to curl, you strike the ball but cut across it - pointing your toe down if you want to keep it low. I cannot respect a professional footballer who has worse technique than me !!!! I'm not having it. I can kick the ball with fade ! And there have been lots of pro ballers who were nothing special - how Carlton Palmer and John Fashanu, for example got to the top of the pile was beyond me - Palmer an England international ! Vinny Jones as well. Many cracking footballers don't make it pro for a plethora of reasons, sometimes ability isn't one of them I never said I was better than Song, pay attention. What I said was I've seen better semi pro ballers. And many of us will look at your stats and tell you PAH - we've all seen Song give the ball away lots in the past few games, so, what gives ?
Song DOES 'give the ball away'. He too often makes a poor judgement pass - and it gets robbed. He thinks too slowly very often, you see he is uncertain and makes a 'pass' born of desperation. I'd like him to stay pretty much in front of the back 4, protecting and not going on wild risky forays forward leaving chaos behind him. He may make the grade in that job, but creative going forward? - no!
You know that they count his passes and it is a fact that he doesn't give the ball away, at least not as much as most other players. That is what the OP is posting about. That is what I can't understand. Both of you have been proven wrong. As much as you post insisting that he gives the ball away it isn't going to change anything. It isn't subjective, it isn't opinion. That is why they take the stats. You can carry on barking at the moon as much as you like, it isn't going to change the facts. As for his positioning, I find it incredible that anyone who obviously watches football as much as you do, hasn't managed to pick up that defensive systems are more complicated than you are proposing. I think what you see as constant chaos, is simply that you are so used to seeing a standard 4-4-2 defense with the zones, that our more man to man system confuses you. They do get disorganized, but it is by no means constant. I don't fully understand all the ins and outs of our defensive system, but if you think Song's job in the defense, is to sit in front of the back 4 on a permanent basis then I am absolutely certain you don't.

Where did I say constant? You agree they do get disorganised !! Tell me why? Its because they are left exposed in an attack breakdown. I do think Song should be 1 not 2 things. He either protects the defence ,or he is an attacking midfielder - not both. I'd rather he was protecting the back 4 - we need better creative players going forward.
