JERMAINE Pennant believes that Stoke City's excellent progress has more than justified his decision to swap Spanish football for a return to the English game.

In looking forward to an exciting finish to the season, the former Arsenal and Liverpool winger says that he is now part of "something special" at the Britannia Stadium.

Pennant completed a permanent move to City at the beginning of the year following a successful four month loan spell from Spanish La Liga side Real Zaragoza.

"I suppose at the time when I moved here people questioned whether I was making the right decision, but I think that the way we have pushed on over the last few months justifies why I came here at the start of the season," commented the 28-year-old.

"These are exciting times for me personally and for the Football Club. It's a fantastic club to be at and there is something really special going on here.

"I am absolutely delighted to be a part of it. I have been lucky enough to have played at some big clubs in Arsenal and Liverpool, but to be honest I always thought there was something missing there whereas it is different here."

"Whilst the club may not be as big as those teams, I feel so happy here. It's like the full package. Everything I want is here, and for me it is definitely the best football club I have ever been at, and it is the happiest I have ever been. Long may it continue."

To cap off what has been a remarkable turnaround for Pennant, a first-ever FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium for both himself and the Club now awaits in ten days time; something he says he is tremendously excited about.

"To be honest, people keep saying our minds aren't on the Cup Final, but that isn't true. It's impossible not to think about it. We have been professional and kept up our performances in recent weeks, but we are all so excited," he said.

"I can't wait to walk out of the tunnel and see the trophy sitting there. That will be a magical moment for me.

"These chances don't come around too often. For me I have always missed them for some reason or another, but now this one is here, I am determined not to let it pass me by."
