I think it's pretty obvious that we need a new left back. Harry clearly doesn't trust Suk-Young or Traore who is being outed by all accounts. Clint Hill's legs have gone and he struggled in that position today, often switching inside and reverting to a third centre half. I'm glad Mad Mick Macarthty didn't exploit this failing on our part and send raiders down our left flank.

So who would you suggest we go for?

My choice would be Dean Lewington from MK Don's. He knows how to defend and will work that left flank all day long. He is fitter than a butcher's dog. Although he has played at MK Don's for like forever, I reckon he is solid and good enough to step up a division and would jump at the chance of joining us on realistic wages.

    If not who better?

I think Yun Suk Yung has the potential to be great. The guy's only 23, he's played under 90 professional club games, and this is his first full season in English football. Throughout preseason he looked really solid, and he looks to have the physicality to compete in the championship. I've got two theories as to why he was dropped for clint today:

    1) This is Arry's way of slowly/kindly fazing clint out of the squad. Tell him his experience is needed at left back for the moment (sneakily replacing him at CB with Dunne in the process). As this is his less favoured position, he's likely to have more poor performances, thus feel less wronged when he is ultimately replaced at that position too.

    2) More likely, Arry was prepared for Ipswich playing very direct today ( http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/160813-nedum-gets-inside-track-995769.aspx ) , and was expecting a bombardment of long balls. This stuff is clint's forte defensively, so today his solidity was favoured to Suk Youngs attacking/overlapping intent on this occasion.

bairdinho plays at centre back and very good in midfield, do not him play as a right back, it nearly ruined him when sanchez played him there

I never knew he was gay.

He is certainly on the list to get ousted. I think that he will be number 23, before the likes of Mbia and Diakite. (They've got to find Diakite first so that other clubs can talk to him.)

I agree that was a smart move by harry today. No effectively dropping hill for dunne, just moving him to lb then he will be dropped for a proper lb. I thinl we will sign a left back when traore is sold, question of balancing the books . I wonder if we might see kyle naughton on loan .

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you 9's. I thought he did a great job at left back yesterday. Maybe his best LB appearance, especially going forwards. He used his heading ability way up the pitch to good effect and put pressure on their defenders. We used some kind of strange tactic yesterday that allowed him to play like that and somehow get back to play a third CB like you said. Ask yourself this: Did the tractor boys ever look like scoring? He can't have done too bad otherwise the team WOULD have tried to take advantage.

Having said that, I don't want him as left back. I still want at least two dedicated left backs and Hill as only emergency.

Weve already got to the point where we dont have any 1st team CFs, CBs, Wingers and just 1 FB on the bench while we have at least 2 CMs who cant even get in the match day squad.

Its an insane situation to be in, yet we will just buy more CMs we dont need.

How can the morons in charge not see that?

We need 2 players per position plus an extra forward or 2 yet 50% of our squad are centre midfielders and we are looking to buy more!

Nice theories Grifter. I think it could be a combination of the two.

Paul Koncheskey is about to sign for you.

He was left out of our squad yesterday, Nige said this was because of transfer speculation. When asked if he was leaving he said yes.

As you're the only club in the league daft enough to pay his wage, close to his home and in need of an accomplished left back. I think it's clear you're the club he'll be joining shortly.

As the Fulham fan pointed out above, he'll bomb up and down your left flank all day and will be a decent signing. Just not worth the wage, he's also never a minute away from a poor pass or being out of position or a horror tackle.

Can't really see HR playing Clint at LB as some sort of devious plan to phase him out of the squad.

Yun definitely has potential and I hope he gets another chance but he was at fault (along with others) for Huddersfield's goal and there were other times his defending was suspect.

I'm not certain but I suspect this was more the reason than any other - quite what HR's 'agenda' could be only Flyer seems to know.

You will need a keeper who is decent at saving Peno's aswell. Luckily for us Kasper Schmeichel is one of the best keepers around at saving penos and he has saved 7 in 2 seasons and we have given away about 20. Konch has given away quite a few of them with reckless and poor timed tackles
