    After 1999, nothing compares, today was very dull didn't even go dark. Boo, expected more. 85%, meh, roll on 2026.

    Yeah 1999 was amazing as day turned to night.
    In Oxfordshire it was very cloudy and it didn't really get any darker. However, around 9.30am the clouds thinned and I had a good view of the moon overlapping the sun.
    Then the sun got brighter and brighter and I couldn't look at it.

    In North Norfolk the cloud broke right on cue so we had a great view. Didn't get as dark as I was expecting though.

    There's a wonderful eclipse every night when the earth completely obscures the sun, and it gets very dark indeed...
