Bloody cloud cover, bloody England, massive let down But definitely getting darker and colder in rural Bucks
Bit cloudy down here in SE Ireland but managed to see it through the occasional break in clouds......getting brighter again.
It was a great view down here in Cornwall, we did have cloud cover at the last minute but it soon cleared.
Same thing happened to me...it all went very dark at 9.30....and all of a sudden it cleared and I got a great view...still on going...been able to see it continously now for 30 minutes....about 50% now. I love England. I love the lack of cloud cover....all is great
I was coming off duty at 09:30 and there was no discernible difference viewed from our station yard in SW London. It was completely cloudy and a bit like the Rangers, a huge anti-climax.
It looks like it's about to rain (ie dark) but the thick cloud is actually quite high up. I always said that Suffolk is stuck in the Dark Ages.
The build up was enough to evoke optimism too. Does this mean our season might end on a bright note....?
I h I have taken compeletly the opposite view.. see my start thread Really dark, really depressed...nothing to see...and then at the last minute, there it was...appeared at exactly the right moment...and it has been great now for the last 30 minutes...so much I have stopped looking because my eyes hurt So I feel the need to post this., because........ The futures so bright I gotta wear shades...COME ON U RRRRS
Didn't see much because I was getting what's left of my hair cut, but there's a lovely, eerie light now. I always wear shades because I have those light sensitive glasses, I was getting sick of having to carry my reading glasses around and having to take shades off whenever I wanted to read something small close up, like an advertising hoarding or traffic signs. The glasses are great, except when you go back inside as they take ages to go clear again. I suspect people are looking at me thinking 'look at that old bloke wearing shades inside in January, what a twat', or 'ooh, bless, isn't he doing well without his white stick?'.
It got dark here in rural Bedfordshire at about 8:56 and has only just got light again. Mind you, I have been asleep. Do I win £5?
Typically about an hour after the whole thing finished the clouds parted and it has turned into a lovely spring day.....
Here in the City the sun disappeared about 4pm on Tuesday - looks like it might be coming back now finally. The wonder of nature eh
The whole thing was hilarious. I had to ask somebody where the sun was as I'd been told to not look directly at it.
Well today's you stupid Pillock award goes to me. I had today off and was looking forward to the eclipse. Did I see it? Did I f**k, forgot to set my alarm and had a mega lie in,doh... I even bought home my welding visor so I could have a proper look.
Took a fare up to the Royal Observatory at Greenwich this morning, there were a few film crews there and it was dull grey cloud for the duration, a sort of semi-twilight. Typically by midday it was clear blue sky's...
