He has been released by Trabzorspor and rumoured to be signing for us (not by anyone credible though). He was linked with a return a few weeks back

I would have him as defensive midfield cover and emergency centre half. While he is a very good defender he costs the team stability at the back at times

    decent addition.

The thing is now, i have so much faith that anyone that we are linked with is good and has a great attitude!

Bit of a defensive liability at times but i agree that decent defensive midfield cover. Haha we have gone from Cambiasso to Sol Bamba. Dear me

Scary as ****! Tried playing defensive midfield a couple of games, and actually forgot and ended up as a third centre half. Thanks, but no thanks - we are better than this.

Pretty s**t imo. Good on the ball, liked a stepover etc but his positioning could be awful.

He was awful the few times he played as a dm too.

As an indivdual he is very good, strong in a tackle and great in the air. He likes to dribble the ball out the back regardless of whether he is running into space or running into the opposition. Hibs fans gave him the nickname Bombscare Bamba for this

As a team player he is horrordous, I felt sorry for whoever played next to him as they never had a clue what Bamba was going to do.

While personally I wouldn't go back in for him and I don't think Nigel will, but if he did go back in for him I wouldn't mind along as he didn't play him centre half much

Not sure what to make of this - played for Ivory Coast in the World Cup and agains had some scarey moments! ... he's big, strong and athletic ... might not be bad to have for the 'squad' provided his wage demands are not excessive ... wouldn't want to see him in the team at the expense of the rapidly developing Liam Moore for sure ...

If everyone on here is honest - he was actually very good. Didn't lose a thing in the air and a real attacking threat from set plays. Realistically a poor mans david luis but bareing in mind that he is a £40m man then thats not a bad thing. Didnt actually make many mistakes but made you nervous when he played it out too far!

Loose cannon at the back who'd stride forward at every given opportunity leaving us light at the back, defensively sound, but reckless, and Pearson likes his defenders to be in defence!

Would welcome him back, but for £"%& sake keep him out of defence!

Still think he could be a great DM, big, tough, and would have to worry less about his positioning <laugh>

I was a fan during his first stay ed ... and thought the circumstances in which we let him go were rather strange ... him and Wes were a pretty awesome combination at Championship level ... but as I said above ... I'd like to see Liam Moore blossom this season .. but with the uncertainty about Upson's return, Sol would certainly boost the squad options ...

    Strange.

He could look like Beckenbauer one moment then like Titus Bramble the next.

He was scary but very entertaining to watch. He's got excellent technique. He's someone who can win tackles and headers all day and is as committed as the next (see attatched photo for evidence) but he seems to think he's Ronaldo and will just go for 40 yard dribbles when he feels like it and, unfortunately, he can't dribble for ****e.

Wouldn't be adverse to resigning him in the Championship (on fair wages) but I think we've outgrown his level and he wouldn't get in ahead of Wes, Was or Liam.

Do you lads think he'd be better in a 3-5-2?

No. He is a centre half - just a bloody scary one. He is entertaining watching though. Manages to get away with murder. Just need a bottle of valium while watching him.

We don't want him. He was pretty much their version of Zayatte (based on the descriptions and the fact he was the same when he played for Dunfermline).

Ah, I see. I was just wondering as some people think we need another centre-back and he'd be cheaper than Dawson.

In your formation he would actually work well as he'd have two other CBs covering up his mistakes.

Poor man's David Luis is a good description - is dominant in the air, excellent in attack, strong in the tackle but if he the last man expect him to screw up.
