I am in England looking after my mother-in-law as she canât be left alone. She is elderly, immobile and has dementia and she had a nasty fall. BUT, I have just had a call from my wife to inform me that Amanda has had a serious accident in her Golf and it has been written off. Amanda is in hospital (broken ribs) and the driver of the other car is dead. My wife was very shaken when she spoke to me as she had just come off the phone from being informed herself. Apparently, the other driver came over onto the wrong side of the road, headlights full beam, and collided with Amanda head on. Police believe he was trying to kill himself. For info she was breathalysed and all clear. Apparently Amanda's car is in bits all over the road and she was trapped in what was left of it. Fortunately she was driving a right hand drive because there is absolutely nothing left of the rest of the car. Needless to say I need to make arrangements so that I can go back home. I'll post a message as soon as I know when that will be as I will be off the air for a while after that. Cheers Ron
Thanks Rocky. Everyone is shaken up at present and I'll have to go back home obviously. The other frightening thing is that her 6year old son was begging her to take him with her. That just doesn't bear thinking about.
Shocking news for you Ron - I hope your daughter makes a full recovery as soon as possible. Sounds like it could have been a lot worse.
Thanks so much everyone for the good wishes. I have just spoken to Amanda. She has had a brain scan and her lungs have been checked out ok. Apart from being covered in blood and bruised from head to foot she seems to have escaped with broken ribs. The passenger door was pressed against her head; that's how mangled it was. Can't wait to get home to see her.
Oh good grief, Ron - sorry to hear this. You said how strong Amanda was after the horse incident and hopefully that strength will help her now. All the best to you and your family. Tewkes
good news ron,and shows how lucky she was to escape with just broken ribs.give her our best wishes mate and hope she makes a speedy recovery
Hi Ron, What a god awful time you're having, hope everything works out ok and that Amanda comes through this unharmed. I'm not a religous person, but i have to say someone was watching over her. Best wishes to all your family.
