............from sacking him? League and Cup record this season: P22 W4 D6 L12 F23 A45 This is an atrocious record and any other manager would have gone by now. So why hasn't he? There are many possible reasons, and the truth may lie amongst them: * the board is scared stiff of having to appoint a new manager and it all going wrong again * we can't afford to pay up his contract * they are desperately hoping that he will walk * they believe that good times are around the corner once everyone is available * they accept the argument that things needed turning around before progress could be made * they are afraid of looking foolish, having appointed a 'name' manager * for some reason relegation to the Conference will be a 'cleansing' process * they haven't got time to deal with it as they are pre-occupied with the new ground * they are standing on their heads and think we're third from the top * MM has 'something' on one of them Whatever it is, they must have a strong reason for sticking with him.
Overall record since he's been manager. PLD 43 W 12 D 12 L 19 Win% 27.21 That's not even average its about the same he had at Aberdeen. PLD 62 W 17 D 13 L 32 Win% 27.42
I would wager they are giving him additional time due to the "injury crisis". We have become a sacking club and they probably feel they need to back their man for the next few matches as his "best team" get to show what they can do. A couple of wins and 2 decent signings in January and we could creep away from the drop zone and reach the dizzying heights of mid table obscurity! They are probably also aware that for a grand total of about 100 mins this season we played fantastic football and blew the opposition away/more than matched them. I'm sure he has convinced them that if he gets a fully fit squad to pick from they can recapture this form on a consistent basis. The big IF is that if he can turn it round, then with a few additions we could be a genuine force next season...Rome wasn't built in a day etc etc. We now have to wait and see!
The season so far has been shocking but if we can get a more solid midfield I genuinely feel we can start to pick up points. It's then about confidence...when we play with that we are great and that's what frustrates me most!
following on from gashead82 comment, if MM manages to turn it around in the same way gashead82 stated, will those who wanted him gone support him again?? or is it a case of too late?
