So IF..

Let me preface this by the disclaimer that I am NOT deluded.. this is simply a what if scenario..

What IF we were to continue with our great start to the season, and what IF by December we were still hovering around 4th / 5th / 6th, and still in the Carling Cup with everything looking very rosy..

Realistically, how much money (if any) do you think Ashley will release to Pardew to try and get us into Europe?

 

£0. He'll say the squad has shown they're good enough to compete at the top.

Yup. That's how Ashley would see it I reckon. Totally ****ing backwards.

 

We do still have some money left of the 35 mil, hopefully . But look at November it's a nightmare month.

If we were doing this well by then, then it means pretty much all of our key players would have stayed fit. That's EXTREMELY lucky, and the worst thing to do is to take the risk and ride that luck over the second half of the season, because if something unexpected happens, one of the few chances we'll ever have of doing so well would have been lost - all for the sake of a few million quid.

If we were doing that well, I'd hope that Ashley would re-invest further money to fortify our squad and solidify our position. It would be by far the most sensible option.

 

(Also a deluded point of view):

I have a feeling he may give Pards a bit of money, as long as he buys players that fit the transfer policy.

He'd be completely violated if he didn't use at least a bit of the 35m to fund buying a striker! I think he'll spend about 10-15m in January...possibly a loan signing as well!

Well Man U and Man C are away and Chelsea at home, so 7 points wouldn't be too bad I suppose.

 

I'm still feeling the pain of being cheated out of a win at Man C last season, not forgetting Ben Arfa was injured that day.

On the subject, I don't get why people we're going on about buying a number nine in the transfer window. You shouldn't buy a number nine, you should buy a player that could become a number nine.
