Hypocrites ( the FA ). As for SKY TV - I can't print what I think ! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35191715 How dare the FA deem it an act of 'misconduct' if Leeds Utd want to ban SkyTv from their ground ? What has the screening of a game got to do with the rules of the 'game' ? The ground is the property of Leeds Utd - and they have every right to exclude whom they wish. It is absolutely disgraceful that the FA has prostituted itself to Television - that these corporations should be allowed to dictate the crimes that can be committed against the 'game.' And what do the FA do to protect the existence of clubs outside of the Premiership ? They do absolutely f a !!! They give all the money to the Premiership - and mere scraps to the rest of the leagues. They force / permit situations where Football League games are played on the same night as Champions League games -decimating attendances in the lower leagues- without any compensation for the situation - and yet they spout 'Fair Play' policies. I am sure that some of you will have your viewpoints on the subject. I could accept that you might tell me that it's merely ' rules - but that doesn't mean that the rules are right or morally correct - especially in light of recent events involving Blatter and Platini. ( more corruption ). The English FA should tell SkyTv where to stick their aerials - Television need football at least as much as the contrary position - but there definitely is no balance in the distribution of the money that has changed hands. I applaud the stand by Leeds Utd. They undoubtedly will be 'suitably' compensated for the screening of the match ( I presume ) - but they are telling the FA and Sky that it's not a matter of money -but their need to protect their product, and to manage it for their fans - rather than to create a situation where more fans might be encouraged to stay away from future matches - and instead to watch what Sky Tv will dictate what you can.
alwaysright - well said. I was going to write a piece on this as I was aware of what was going on, but because I am so anti Sky i thought i would let someone else take the lead as I'm sure people get sick of my stance re the Premier League and Sky at times. Now I'm not sure what the true motives are behind this being a Gills supporter, as I have little interest in Leeds financially but on face value I applaud LUFC for their stance. I'm sick to the back teeth of everything that Sky has done to OUR game. I'm just waiting to see the next generation of Leicester City shirts to appear! But good luck to Leicester it makes a great change to see a less glamorous club take the reigns. Sky can do one big style, I just hope that Leeds have the financial balls and clout to stand by their 'no' and keep their stance and SKY OUT, and that other clubs and supporters back them. Am I interested in the financial drain if Sky were to do one, not one bit, I'm happy to go to places like Aldershot when they were in League Two any day of the week, hope this is the start of a revolution but of course it will not be. But for a change Sky are getting a message and mine is also loud and clear, Leeds having my backing all the way on this one.
