Bobby Charlton, Busby Babe, Munich survivor, Man Utd & England great, football genius, loved you mate, a true gent ,RIP Sir
RIP Sir Bobby Charlton. The player of the tournament in 66 and our best player in Mexico 4 years later, not my words - Franz B's. A true great and lucky to be at Wembley in 68 to see him and his beloved Matt Busby lift the European Cup 10 years after Munich. Sad sad day for English football.
A person who’s face and action prints adorned my bedroom walls in our council prefab in Whitchurch and who always appeared to be an ultimate gentleman even if he wasn’t really perfect Rest well Sir Bobby you’ve earned it
I was at Wembley on that magic day in 1966 and watched Bobby raise the World Cup above his head to the cheers of the faithful. An icon has left the stage that he graced for many years and if ever there was a true gentleman of the game then it was the rightfully deserving Sir Bobby Charlton. True players of that era respected one another and the most memorable memory of the 1966 World Cup, other than the obvious, was to see Bobby and Eusebio leaving the pitch after we beat Portugal in the semi-finals with both in tears and hugging each other in total respect. That was what Bobby was all about and another legend has gone. R.I.P. Bobby.
