LIVERPOOL have made an offer for £5m rated Swansea striker Scott Sinclair.

The former Chelsea forward has caught the eye of Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish.

Sinclair would be seen as an ideal signing as he can play out wide as well as up front.

Dalglish is looking to bolster his attacking options before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

His side have struggled for goals this season, having scored just 24 goals in 21 Premier League matches.

Despite the lack of goals, Dalglish remains publicly supportive of Andy Carroll.

The Liverpool boss maintains he is happy with Carroll's application and believes the striker is proving his commitment to the team ethos.

The club's £35million record signing's performance in last week's 1-0 Carling Cup semi-final first-leg victory at Manchester City came in for some criticism because of his ineffectiveness.

Carroll squandered a golden chance to put his side ahead in the fifth minute and flashed a long-range header wide of the far post later on.

Dalglish said: "Andy worked fantastically hard for us and sacrificed himself for the sake of the team."

If I'm honest, wouldn't say no especially for 5m.

P.S- Spelt his name wrong, my bad

Could be a great signing. What age is he?

I wonder how Jarvis would have done if he had signed instead of Downing.

Not for me. I think he will do well for a club like Swansea where there is no pressure on him but I would'nt wan't us to sign him, I also think if he was to leave Swansea he would go for a lot more than £5mil considering he's young, English, and can play on the wing or up front. I honestley don't want us to sign any more English player's, we have enough of them now and they are all highly overpriced.

He's only 22 I think - the sort of signing we should be making I think. Young, flair, can operate wings or play up top. 5m GO GET HIM

Yeh he's 22 I think. But rubadub, surely for 5m it doesn't really matter if he doesn't work out? I think it'll be worth a shot tbh.

If he's £5mil then yes, but I could'nt see Swansea letting him go for that, unless he has not got much left on his contract.

For £5m - I don't think you can go wrong. I would rather get Nathan Dyer in though ..

They close to the same age? they are pretty similar really. I think Sinclair would add much needed pace but just not for me. Feel that soon enough he will become a role player as will Adam, Downing ( IF we can start winning and get the CL caliber players we want!)

Sinclair is 22 and Dyer is 23/24 I think. But I feel Dyer has more to his game and has a good head on him in terms of composure and intelligence.

I would be pretty happy if we could bring Dyer or Hoillet in this transfer window - someone with some pace who can support attacks quickly and get in the box.

We don't have too many exciting players with the exception of Suarez. We tend to stick to the safe, hard working types.

sinclair may have more talent but he's more selfish. I would want dyer to play the role wide and stay wide and not ge ta big head and play where he wants and to be frank sinclair might do that.

too right there, and MITO ya Sinclair was known to have the wide-o type of mentality so Dyer could be better. I feel that we are not in an area where a punt ( even if cheap) is what we need. I just feel we need real class this window even if it is one person. Although i would not say not to either of these for 5 mil. Better than 18 mil for Hoillet, another with a big head btw.

In all honesty, I only want us to invest in British players if they are youngsters. If we are going for players who will improve us now, then I want us to buy foreign.

We need more technically gifted players in the side and I mean proper technical players. Just compare the two current LFC players:

Charlie Adam - the nation were salivating at one stage because he can spray the odd ball 40 yards. There are hundreds of Spaniards who can do this for fun.

Jose Enrique - comfortable with the ball at his feet. He likes to dribble and is composed and I'm talking about a left back here.

There is a real lack of technically and intelligent gifted British players - an english player will come along who (as I say) can pass the odd ball 40 yards and everyone thinks he's the next Zidane. You only have to compare our foreign counterparts to see the gulf in class.

Not too sure he's going to solve our goal scoring problems though. Think he's scored 4 goals this season all of which were penalties.

Apparently Lucas barrios from Dortmund has been transfer listed for this window...... could be a steal that.

Danny Graham (sp) has scored more goals than him ( 7 I think).

Barrios would be a good signing although I am a bit concerned that he's been transfer listed? Has he been in trouble or is it down to poor performance?

would need to check but last year when they won the league he was on fire. This summer in the copa he tore a hamstring I believe in the final and missed a lot of pre-season and the start of the season. Then Lewandowski, Gotze, Kagawa started to form a good tandem and i think he just had trouble breaking back in.

I think there is a case for all types.

first.... suarez is a example of a proven international bought for a lot of money... he happened to be 24 but no risk... how many times was silva or mata or aguero mentioned on old 606 even if not available or willing to move (or us not wanting etc) I think we all can see 4/5 players out there that fit this bill.

second.... a good player like god henderson who doesn't have the ego, and is willing to work all day long to improve... for example again LUCAS (first is 20 and abused, second is 25 and lauded go figure)... if you buy dyer or sinclair and they don't have a gods gift ego and work hard then they are true bargains.

    bale was such a bargain!

luis enrigue is another good shout of the right player, right age, right price..... if we get another 5 players i nthe henderson/enrique mould and no more andy carrolls well i am sure we will improve rapidly.....

Yet another good shout is COATES.

    hmmmmmmm..

our 8 signings: suarez, enrique, henderson coates... all look good players don't they bags of potential... downing, carroll, adam get abuse for not going and doing their real jobs on the pitch... but they've got age on their sides and the ability to play better.

one senior expereince player in bellamy for nothing is hailed....

the single only critique that can be given IMO is carroll wans a blunder at 35mil.... aside from that if kenny wants two swansea guys i'm fine with that cos i rememebr him going to oxford for houghton and aldo... they could be great..

He's a good player and will get better, I wouldn't be disappointed if we signed him. I also wouldn't mind the right winger Dyer.

Don't think you'll be getting either lads, well certainly not in January, and we are in no rush to offload any of our best players, we are a club with absolutely no debt, well run, and with a chairman that nows how to put the phone off the hook, when the 'Fat Cats' come calling, so try Newcastle again!.......................
