Forget Alex Ferguson, David Beckham and the blanket coverage by Sky of their retirement. A true legend has stepped down from the game...http://www.kentsportsnews.com/king-forced-to-quit-football-20-05-2013/
feel gutted for him could have played at championship level if he hadnt been injured showed club was right to let him go
Quite simply the best defender I have seen in a Gills shirt. Better than Ashby & Hope. 2008-09 defined him as a club legend. Wish him well with his new career. Long Live the King!
Such a shame that he has had to retire, one of the best that I have seen in the Gills defence in my lifetime and possibly the best that I have seen that I will remember. King is a club legend after the 08-09 season and it is a shame he picked up the injuries as he would have been playing in the championship if that hadn't have happened.
After saying we had no money during the close season, suddenly 200k appeared after you were recommended to the Chairman by Hessie. Ronnie J .soon quit and Stimmo took over. We would have easily have made 500k profit from your sale after you had kept us up in League 1. Alas it was not to be. Football can be very cruel. Good luck Simon the Sun King, may you find success in your new vocation. Rest assured you will be always remembered here!
Make sure you mention that all of us Gills fans still thank him for his efforts for the club and his 110% commitment in every game he played in!
