Simon King has joined INVERNESS, such a shame, we should not have let him go but we have so good luck to him, hope he does prove us wrong in a way even though we will look a bit stupid for letting him go. http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/king-signs-for-caley-280123.aspx Who thinks it was right to let him go and who thinks that we should have kept him?
If he plays 30 odd games this season it will have been a mistake to let him go but we all know it is extremely unlikely. He is a doubt for their game on Saturday because of injury.
I think we was worth the risk we had sticked by him for all the time which he was injured so why let him go when he is coming back? Him and Essam would be great and at League 2 level a centre back paring not to be messed with. Have to add I hope that Essam will be the main starting centre back as you don't know what Martin Allen has in mind. I think it would be a shame and also a mistake not to play him all the time.
Its all about opinions but I would definitely have let him go, unfortunately just not half the player he was.
Thanks for posting that as I totally forgot he was due to play even though I see the season had started, he done well then at least, dirty game from what I see.
Kingy was more than capable of playing 30 games last season. Only because Hess stuck to his old guard, our best player got alienated out of the club
He played 6 times for Plymouth, then managed 9 games in a row for us and was only dropped because Frampton had returned to fitness. He could have easily seen out the end of the season.
i think you will find he played 90 minutes twice at Plymouth, he was substituted a number of times sometimes at half time. It was not a very robust track record. I thought he put in some decent performances for Gills but he was just a pale imitation of the 2008 King and he was often limping towards the end of games. I reckon he was right to move on but it might have been wiser to finish and take a testimonial. i will be delighted if he proves me wrong and plays most of Cally's games.
