Did anyone else grow up listening to this plonker? The funniest thing would be the Our Tune slot where he would read out a letter from a listener going on about how **** their life was. It would last about 15 minutes, the person would list a string of catastrophes and Master Bates would then play a ****e song like Lady in Red just to pile on the suffering. And to think about 15 million people used to tune in to this ****! Young people today don't know how lucky they are.
Simon Bates, Simon Mayonnaise, OOOOOHHHHHHHH Gary Davies, Peter Powell, Steve ****e in the Afternoon, Mike Read, they were all absolute fuds of the highest order. Actually along with the complete knob ends on todays radio 1 especially it makes one hark for The Hairy Cornflake and Noel Edmonds and Tony Blackburn and Arnold in the 70's. That's how bad the 80's, 90's and Noughties have been.
Was watching TV last night and his droning voice turned up in an advert. Apparently is breakfast 'DJ' for something called Smooth FM. No doubt still tells as many people as possible about some poor saps **** life on a daily basis.
