I like to regard myself as a positive person (deliberately choosing to ignore the occasional pessimistic mood swings) so I’ve been trying to find a silver lining.

I started by looking at the run of matches from Chelsea onwards and how many points we could realistically expected from them. So from Chelsea, Spurs, City, Stoke, Norwich, WBA, Liverpool and United I would have thought we could have realistically expected 4, 5 or maybe 6 points. We actually got 7, so on the face of it not a disaster. So if we ignore the fact that we are playing crap and failing to pick up point where we really need to it isn’t so bad.

I think the team selection for Wednesday night has the potential to be the defining moment of our season. I think that we need to put out a team that a) shows passion and desire to play for Q.P.R. and b) the supporters can get behind on what will undoubtedly be a very cold night. To that purpose I would revert to 4-2-3-1 with Young and Hill as full backs with whoever is fit between them, Derry and Faurlin in front of the back 4, Tarore, Taarabt and Mackie as the attacking 3 and Helguson upfront. This team would contain more players who will give their all for the cause than has been the case recently in a match that we must win and their increased effort would draw appreciation and support from the home crowd. Another poor showing from Barton, SWP and Bothroyd could be the final straw for some, I would have them all sitting in the cold on the bench seeing and let them see what passion and desire is.

Totally agree Rollercoaster but would like to see DJ brought on at some point. Paddy could be back too.

I think NW will go 451 in the first half and if its still 0-0 with 20 to go he will bring on DJ and go for the win.I think his policy is try not to lose and if we can, nick a win.

I like the measured tone of your post Roller, we've had such a lot of hysterics over the last few days that the only sensible course of action was to head for the word assoc thread and hole up there until the last few shots could be heard, a bit like waiting for the popcorn to be done.
If we can stop comparing ourselves to other teams and stay focused on our goal we would have a much less frantic and fractious time after games that go against us and games that go with us. Honestly, if I wanted to do a bungee jump I would pay for it and not get it for free here.
Survival is our goal this season, nothing more and nothing less. Getting carried away by beating Chelsea is as bad for us as downing ourselves for losing to Bolton. We are good enough to stay up, but the team needs our support and bickering, like booing, never helped anyone ( I think Watford said that)
Anyway, let's ease up on the player bashing and give them the support they deserve for the rest of the season.

Banned! Don't be so ridiculous! I’m getting fed up with this forum though. Too many decent posts get drowned by the flood of nonsense. I’ve been looking around and posting elsewhere. As far as I’m concerned this forum is in the last chance saloon.

By the way, having been looking around, I don’t think many here appreciate what a good job Northolt does for this forum. He keeps posting news articles of interest to promote discussion, and tries to let everyone have their free rein while not letting anything get out of hand.

Did you actually read what Rolller said mate. He wants Bothroyd, Barton and SWP dropped! That's pretty much what a lot of the posters you seem fed up with have been saying.

Anyway....really liked your post Roller and I agree that some of the nonsense on here can get really tiresome!! Trouble is, if you leave, then that's one less decent contributor!!
I totally agree with your thread, although I keep praying that SWP will come good. Trouble is, I fear NW is a little star-struck with SWP and Barton. Can't see him ever leaving Joey out tbh. Really liked your team though, it's very similar to the one I've been suggesting.

Good post and I can't really disagree with anything.

I wonder, do you think Traore could play Barton's position? Then maybe we could have SWP on the pitch. I don't think SWP lacks passion, he just lacks a bit of confidence and if he can manage to get that back, he'd be great for us. With that said, maybe a few good substitute appearances would be a decent choice. That way, he'd be coming on when everyone else is tired and his pace would do the work for him.

Roller. I like your team other than I feel we need more goal potential. I proposed the same formation on another thread., but had Traore at LB, and DJ in the attacking 3 to give us a bit more punch in the box. I envisage Traore getting forward a lot from his LB position, and DJ getting in the box at the slightest sniff.... I had Barton instead of Derry, but on 2nd thoughts I think you are right, he was sh'te Sunday and just beacuse he's captain doesn't mean he shouldn't be dropped after a performances like that. We need to be tighter at the back, our back 4 aren't good enough defensievely without 2 defensive orientated midfielders giving them cover. And we gotta use Adel and hope he enjoys and creates. I'd keep Cerny in goal an all after his displays, but its great we have 2 Ok keepers giving each other some competition now.

Barton wont be dropped and in my opinion DJ should be given a start.
