Rest in peace. True legend of the sport, when you look back and see the lives he's saved you realise just what an important job he and his team did. A great loss. As Sgt said, let's hope he enjoys a spot of fishing in heaven with Senna and he can take great pleasure in seeing how few F1 drivers will join him in heaven ahead of their time because of his work.
Very sad news, he's a huge reason why we haven't had a fatality in F1 for so long, both as first responder and in campaigning for greater safety measures. A great man and a huge loss.
Sid was a great man. He devoted his life to his work, and in particular, F1. I'd like to offer a personal 'thankyou' to him, for his tireless efforts. It's incredible to think that he was still active in his role until very recently. He will be remembered for hundreds of years.
Very sad news and it is testament to him that while he was still working until very recently, we heard so much less of him than we used to: mission accomplished, Prof. Rest in peace.
I don't know if I can say anything that hasn't already been said. This man was an absolute hero. An unsung hero. A kind and caring man who has only ever done the most he can for the people in this sport. And I think what he's done is more than we could've ever hoped for. I was very happy that he was noted in the Senna movie for all of his effort and that it showed him as the nice man he was. RIP Sid Watkins

Thousands of people in motorsport probably owe their lives to the tireless work Sid carried out to make F1 a safer sport. He was probably the one guy in the F1 paddock who was universally respected by all. Track safety, car safety, driver safety, medical centres etc were all of paramount concern to him and he did not shy away from these topics when some would question the need for all of this. No one has died in F1 since 1994 thanks to his inspiration and work (along with those who worked with him to implement his ideas with him) edit: I am not taking anything away from the campaigning JYS did in the 60's/70's which started the march towards a safer F1. An exceptional life that anyone would be proud of. If the mark of success really is not how much money you make but how much difference you make to other people's lives then he was one of the most successful of men.

R.I.P Sid. Legend is an over-used word in motorsport, but he is certainly a true legend. Very few, if any, have had such a significant impact on F1 than he has. He will be sadly missed.
The man helped change F1 for the better. Were it not for his tireless efforts in the safety department and medical centre, in the past few seasons we probably would have lost Robert Kubica, Sergio Perez and Felipe Massa. R.I.P. Professor Watkins.

This is real sad news. I hope the F1 world give him the big send off he deserves as many drivers owe him for his dedication
