Im not naming names so this can stay on general chat , but what the **** is going through some peoples heads. A certain football manager who shares the same surname as John Lennon was attacked last night whilst going about his job, and then after that incident arrives to work this morning to find bullets have once again been posted to him.

Am I the only one who thinks that no human being should be put through such **** for just doing their job. If it was Alex Ferguson ,or any other professional manager there would be , dawn raids, court cases , jail time.

Shankly said 'football isn't life or death, it's more important'. But I think unless the Scottish Polis get the finger out Football will have its First Assasination, no way back after that.

It's embarrassing to be scottish at the moment (cue 'only at the moment?' jokes). The fact is no-one should be subjected to this but it seems that a disturbingly high proportion of people seem to think that there are some mitigating circumstances for the letter bombs, the death threats, the assaults and bullets etc.

    Yes.

Normally I take great pride in haggis, shortbread, knife crime, tartan, deep-fried everything, and our world-beating levels of coronary disease. <ok>

sickening indeed - sickening hypocrisy - that u get you knickers in a twist about Lennon being sent bullets in the post (I do not condone this in any way, even tho he's a horrible ****), yet you post a memorial to a 'brave volunteer' who died 30 years ago. Don't know the history of what that dead dick-wad did, but if he didn't actually murder anyone, he certaintly condoned the actions of people who did, and certaintly knew them. If Lennon was a Prodestant and manager of Rangers I very much doubt you'd be too worried. Prick.

And to think some people don't want Rangers and Celtic to join us in the EPL.

    Can't think why.

Familiarity breeds contempt and all that.

If Celtic and Rangers had the chance to build other rivalries, then the one between each other would calm down a lot, to the level of a Man Utd - Liverpool or Barca - Real Madrid rivalry and there would be a lot less of these 'incidents'.

Did Lennon get charged for his attempted assault on McCoist?

Just because he didn't manage to catch him, doesn't mean it's not religiously aggravated assault....

Just seems a bit of a double standard to me.

I'm obviously a trifle worried about the bombs and bullets malarkey.

Sad case. Nice one grandad <ok>

You're glorifying the death of an man involved in bombings and shootings, because he's a Republican and Catholic 'hero' - then crying when someone sends Lennon bullets in the post 'how dare you do this to Mr Lennon, he's a nice Catholic man!' - don't see the fail there, and stand by my statement that you're a hypocrite.
