this ia a slimmed down version of what i spent 30 mins preparing.

600 of 1650 away tickets sold

argyle signed 2 new strikers warren feeney 30 oldham and n/ireland, also trevor kandol 29, ex leeds barnet and congo international. these 2 supplement 18 yr old tom hitchcock blackburn on loan

they now have a squad of 18

    i think/hope shrews may win 2-0

look out for peter ridsdale and 700 worried away fans, will the preferred bidders ever go public, and have they raised the dosh yet. coys fs aab, ctrb and uncle rowland steady on with that decanter please. good luck to gt and his babes

Think there will be far more than 700 atcham jack. bought my ticket today and your box office advised they are expecting a lot more than have already bought tickets. any suggestions as to where the best pub for Argyle fans is? nearish the ground if possible as I've got to collect my ticket at the ground

hi greenjock and welcome. the nearest pub is the brooklands at meole brace about 1 and a half miles away. there are bars and pies etc at the ground. no real ale though.
pleased to hear there will be a goodly number of pilgrims. good luck

Thanks AJ. I'll drink anywhere really but a good friendly pub with a bit of banter would be ideal. Hopefully there will be around 1,000 to make a goodly amount of noise too. I hear the ground is a fair way from the railway station and I have to catch the 17.45 back, is that ambitious?

The Brooklands is 10 mins max from the ground next to Meole Roundabout, if you're getting bus from station it might pass it. If you have plenty of time beforehand then try a good pub in the centre. Advice given if needed. there is a direct bus from station to ground for fans, but other buses run that way too (number 24 I think). If match finishes on time and you're getting bus to station then there should be plenty of time.

Ale is served in ground - Woods Shropshire Lad, but in plastic bottle.

F knows what the administrators see in this consortium buying your club, looks dodgy to me. No club should ever sell their ground. Good luck for rest of season after Saturday's result.

Don't trust Google maps as it still has stadium by town centre on some searches. It is on Oteley Road near to train line.

Thanks Matster. The administrator has made a strange decision and it all points to the fact that he has handled administration before where Ridsdale has been involved. Ridsdale slimed his way in last year saying he only wanted to save the club and had no interest in taking over! Now it's cost him £1 to own the club with another completely dodgy character in Kevin Heaney apparently going to own the stadium and land. Thats bad enough in itself but it now doesnt look as though Heaney has the money to cough up. He's the front man for a consortium that is staying anonymous, and that could be because former directors who brought us down to our knees are involved. We're now being told that Heaney is awaiting another deal completing to have the funds for Argyle. After the £50 billion or so that was wiped off the value of shares in the UK last night, this probably won't happen.

My guess is that Heaney has some of the cash and is looking for the rest from former directors who are looking to recoup some of the money they lost recently and Heaney would be in a win/win situation if this all goes ahead because they will need to give Ridsdale a couple of million to get us through the first year and then its down to the club making enough to keep us afloat. If we're succesful this is good for our landlords and if we're not, Heaney owns Truro City who are a team on the up and have just been promoted for about the 6th time in 7 or 8 years and are now in the Conference South. If Argyle fail he has a ready made large stadium for his team.

Beggars can't be choosers and we were in the mire big time, but this bunch seem as bent as a nine bob note!

Anyway thanks for the advice and here's hoping for a good turnout and exciting game tomorrow, a narrow Argyle win obviously.

We have always won our opening fixture at the new ground. The last 3 years we have scored 3, 3 and 4 (The first year it was the second game, having won 4-0 away at Lincoln, which we won 1-0). Added to that it is 450+ minutes since we last conceded a goal in a league match.

By the law of averages this suggests a 1-0 win for Plymouth.

latest news from argyle is that the administrator brendan guilfoyle is concerned that the financial markets turmoil may cause serious problems for the preferred bidder in raising millions of pounds. let us hope the bidding syndicate waiting in the wings are still there and are not having similar cash problems

I'll be happy to forfeit our usual good start for an unusually good autumn/winter - provided we're in the top 3 in May of course!

sorry not been there, it is 60 years ago i moved from salop to ludlow and 53 years ago since i left shropshire. any way with my short legs i am sure it would have been 1 and a half miles. would half a mile be about right

shrops star is running a thread about the cost of watching the shrews, there are loads of anti shrews/football and it needs a bit of balance from the shrews. i have written but a few more pro shrews will be useful
