Sorry but was meaning to do this earlier in week but have spent last six days digging out 25m of fencing, farmers iron fencing, loads of sheet metal and shed loads of nettles to lay a mesh fence and prepare ground for a hedge. Yikes.... Well we meet Swindon again whose ballon sprung a leak last season and they failed to get promotion. PDV left and they have ex AFC Telford manager as their replacement. We have lost many players and have several on loan, oh and so do they!!! New winger signed today and guess the squad will be Weale, Tavernier, mkindawire, Jones, Jacobson Reach, Summerfield, Wildig, Parry Burke, asanti Unless tavernier is injured still?? Taylor doesn't look at his fittest and could have a rest. Town to win 2-1 Burke, reach Att: 5600
Have recovered sufficiently from a broken arm to attend my first game this season. Despite the latest signing I cannot be confident of a win with our small and inexperienced squad. I go for 1-1 with Assante scoring in front of 5300 fans.
By and large an excellent performance. Chased and harried and stopped Swindon playing from the back. Should have scored more. Wildig and Summerfield commanding in midfield. Cool finish by Reach. Taylor still cannot control the ball-rebounds almost into Shrewsbury town centre off him on occasion. Make sure you are present sometime in the first 6 months of 2015 when Bradshaw scores his next goal.
Really enjoyable game, with only ten minutes of idle banter within the crowd near the end of the first half which means that the fans were hooked on the action. I cannot fault any of the players as no one played badly, and all worked their socks off to get a good result. Pleasing to watch Reach, Wildig and Jacobson linking up well; summerfield dealing with everything and parry attacking and tracking back to defend with Goldson coming forward to attack when able. The centre backs both did well with only a few worryingly wayward passes out. Taylor playing freely behind Asanti was a real pain for their defenders and both forwards attacked regularly, I know Asanti should have passed but Taylor also had a selfish shot that got saved. Bradshaw did well for getting the second goal, taking the ball off their defender, turning well and blasting past the keeper. Well done to all the squad.
A very pleasing performance with Reach a class above anyone else on the pitch, especially first half. Swindon were surprisingly poor but the pace in our young team meant we harried them at the back and it should really have been 4 or 5 for us. Good performances all round but I was especially pleased for Bradshaw (whatever you think of his capabilities) - no one has worked harder or deserved a goal more and I can only hope he goes onto better things now.
Best we have played for a long, long time...some players of ours really surprised me so lets keep this level of excellence up, well done to Reach very cool on his goal, its nice to come on here and feel positive, but we must take this attitude in our next game Rotherham ...also GT got the tactics spot on
