after a particularly poor evening at southend last night , todays results dump town down to 5th spot from 3rd, but only 5 points seperate the top 11. the most damage done last night was to town's goal difference, now only +3, but our home record is 10 for and 3 against. i expect that statistic to be considerably improved next saturday especially as your correspondent is making a 410 mile round trip to watch his beloved shrews,

our visitors barnet have had a poor start to the season, and thanks to hereford and plymouth are keeping their chins above water with the bantams, just.

    results, barnet, L h cobblers,1-2, L a swindon 0-4, L h oxford 0-2, w h argyle 2-0 L a crewe 1-3

    league
    p 11 w2 d3 L6 f12 a22 gd -10 p9 pos 21

so come on shrews a 100% performance is required, no gifts of penalties nor gifts from whoever is in goal. a solid team performance is required.
    aj prediction 4-0. attendance 5151

    Atcham,
We should have enough to win this but there should be a few changes. Smith has lost his confidence and Neal should come in for him - there is not a lot between them anyway and Smith is making too many mistakes at the moment. Hopefully, Sharps and Cansdell-Sheriff will both be fit and can resume their partnership with Grandison going back to right back. Our squad looks a couple of players light to me which means injuries can result in us down to the bare bones with players like Goldson coming in and having to play out of position - not the best thing for a promising young player. I think we have enough up front to take us very close this year but we need to sign a better goalkeeper and a quality midfielder - surely Roland has enough cash stashed away for this.

i quite agree with everything until you mentiom cash and roland. i suspect we need a home crowd of 7k before any cash is splashed. shrews are doing very well on loanees and freebie players and may need to continue to do that. sadly more cash may be available when we sell some of our stars in january/ summer. agree smith needs a rest

Good to hear you're visiting the meadow Jack. Unfortunately I'm going to be in Lincoln sampling the delights of the local nightlife so won't be present. Hopefully my absence will be greeted by a return to winning ways and confirmation we're title contenders with a 7-0 victory in front of 8,000 proud Salopians.

    3-1

    Atte 5200

    Morgan, Gornell, (2) - McLeod

Izale McLeod is a real livewire who has already 5 or so this term. Could be problematic for the not-confidence-inspiring jaded rearguard of Sharps and SCS but we should have enough in the tank for a struggling Barnet side. COYS FS AAB blah

    Audacious!

Last year GT tried 4-3-3 with Wright and Disley pulling the strings and Robinson/Obadeyi playing off Harrold. When he obviously wanted a rousing victory to raise moral they ran us pretty close in the end.

1-0 grandison off a corner , but we have to pull our socks up a bit ..and we need to add too our squad if we are going to be contenders, we at least need a couple of more players, we have a strong first 12 but after that nowt much special ...so come on Roland!! ...get your cheque book out!!....if you are serious about this season...

The squad definitely need to practice scoring from corners. We have had many a corner this season and I do not think we have scored directly from one.

Why all the doom and gloom all of the sudden. We lost A game. We will lose games against good teams and not so good teams, that is football. It is obviously just a case for Turner getting his chosen 11 players of turning more draws into wins and more losses into draws!!

i still say there is little money available, are the shrews annual accounts out yet. let us not lose sight of the fact that some of our players are home grown, some on free transfer, any on loan? and look how strong town are and just where we are. if we had regular home gates of say 6500/7000 there may be some money available but town's shrew string or shoe string seems taut, and graham can loan if he is allowed to and thinks it necessary

<badger>We must not underestimate Barnet don't forget anyone can beat anyone (excluding Hereford!) in this league. Hopefully though we are switched on and back to winning ways and no panicking in the box leading to penalties like Southend. Going for a 3-1 win for Town scorers Morgan, Wroe and SCS from a corner! attendance 5064 (59 from Barnet beating lasts years 43)

How many penalties is Grandison linked to now? I know he is young and has done a good job in defence this season, just hope they do some sort of trainging with him to fix it.

Eh? "not-confidence-inspiring jaded rearguard of Sharps and SCS"? That's the same one that had one of the best defensive records in L2 and didn't actually play at Southend? Come on guys - one defeat and we lose heart and want new players? That's just poor.

This season's going to be a long haul and there's nothing between half the league at the moment. If we throw in the towel after every defeat we won't last the pace for long because you can be sure there'll be plenty more defeats for everyone before the season's out. How we respond to those defeats will define our season - hopefully the players' response will be a bit more positive than some on here!

am i missing something here, as i thought sharps and cansdell sheriff were the kingpins of towns defence. both are back from injury so why are they jaded all of a sudden
