Sadly due to vast increases in the amount of work I have to do now as a student, I won't be able to post as regularly on here (I can already here the sighs of relief) and I won't be able to do the usual lengthy match threads - I'm happy to start them but they will be a little sparse by way of content, I'm afraid.

My Prediction: Shrewsbury 2-1 Scunthorpe (Gornell, Wright) Attendance 6025

thanks lenny for your many threads, pre and post match etc. hopefully someone else who is local and attends games will contribute.

for this week only from aj- shrews entertain bottom of the league scunny utd. their league form has been much less promising than their capital one league heroics.

    league results.

    scun 1 sheff utd 1
    scun 1 n/county 2
    h/pool 2 scun 0
    scun 0 yeo 4
    scun 1 crewe 2
    crawley 3 scun 0

in short scunny have scored only 2 or 3 times this season.
    cup
in the cup scunny held derby away 5-5. no mean acheivement, and won on penalties. they narrowly lost at norwich 1-2

    league
    p5 w0 d1 L4 f2 a12 gd-10 points 1 sorry point.

if gt was to tinker up front with the team and midfield i can see shrews winning by 2, if gt leaves the team unchanged i see a goal less draw. attendance 5561 prediction to follow, shake em up graham, floreat salopia!

A big couple of games coming up and we should find out how we will fare against some of the current strugglers in this league. I see Clarke (a big handful when he played for Swindon against us last year) and Hawley (a pretty useful striker) may beef up their attack. If we can cut out the individual errors at the back and establish our normal passing game in midfield I can see us gaining a 2-0 victory with Wright and Hall scoring. I suspect Gornell and Hazell may be benched and replaced by Hall and Hector. Attendance 6250.

ditto on that... well ill go
    Shrews 1-Scunny 0
Bradshaw (after coming on at half time)

i think the score wont reflect the game, most of us will be coming from the ground saying it should have been three or four, but the three points in the bag will do very nicely.

    Shrewsbury 3 v 1 Scunthorpe
    Gornell, Gornell, Parry (fingers crossed)
    Att: 6299

Let's hope that Town (and Gornell) can find their scoring boots and that the back five prove me wrong and get a clean sheet.

    Come on you Blues!

The next set of odds for the betting league are up for those who are yet to place any bets - Jenny is set to be fined £150 this week due to a consistent lack of bets!

A shocking performance and completely outplayed by Scunny. Couple that with some mystifying decisions by GT. First it is time to put to bed the fact that Bradshaw amounts to anything. He had Town's best chances and only made feeble attempts at them. The substitutions were bizarre. Instead of replacing Bradshaw with another striker he opted to withdraw him and play the equally ineffectual Wright as Morgan's partner bringing on Wildig and Hall. Purdie is now being found out and was rightly replaced. He had been run ragged by Duffy.

Even more mistifying was the decision to bring on Doble for the last 5 minutes when he or Gornell should have replaced Bradshaw in the first place.

Weale MOM. The remainder were poor. This is going to be a season of struggle.

Re: Weale - at 4 mins into the second half someone behind our goal shouted out to Weale "You're f%%king S££t" - What a great way to give the player some confidence :(

Bit of a shocking and the team as a whole did not play well. Did anyone deserve a MoM? The game was a bit bizarre regarding substitutions but i think the plan was to shore up midfield without taking Richards out of the team. Moving him to LB removed Purdie, Parry switched wings and Wright went up front with Hall coming into the centre and Wildig on the right. I don't think it worked out as well as it could have. With Taylor injured it shows we are possibly missing a decent rw alternative to Parry as Wildig looked ineffective, but more match time might bring him on. One of the positives was Parry nicely bringing the ball up the wing and Bradshaw almost drifting the ball in past the keeper only for him to miss by an inch. Bradshaw did manage to get the team awarded five free kicks, which unfortnately came to nothing. Morgan was his usual handful to the defense and Wright worked his socks off all game, but admittedly no shots on trget came out of it.

Let's hope tuesday brings better results and we can restart a challenge to beat our unbeaten at home record again.

    Matster,
I think you are being very generous to our side - I rather agree more with Kasule as I think that was probably the worst home performance since GT returned. For the second game running Purdie was run ragged - word must have got around quickly after Notts County and he was given no help by Wright who also had a shocker. Scunthorpe controlled the midfield and played a high line, harrassing our defenders and our midfield who could never settle on the ball for any length of time. The response to this seemed to be to boot the ball 50 yards onto Bradshaw's head, which was never going to work. Everyone on this site knows I am not a fan of Bradshaw but I felt sorry for him today because he was trying hard and was getting very little of the right type of ball.
At least we made a few chances in the first half but in the second we were even more feeble and played very little passing football. We must have Joe back at left back on Tuesday, I also think Wright, Hazell and Summerfield will be lucky if they keep their place in the team. As for the strikers, not one of them looks like they could hit a barn door with a banjo at the moment and we need to get two experienced strikers in on loan and to loan out Bradshaw to a League 2 or BSP club to give him some more game time.
We have been very spoiled as fans by having that long unbeaten home run and today was a reality check - we must improve and improve quickly or we wll be in relegation battle soon.
