it is hoped this game may last 90 mins plus on tuesday night following postponement and abandonment. vale following their admin and 10 points deduction have spent the last 5 games playing fellow flotsam and jetsom of league 2. sadly some poor results have occurred results morecambe o vale 0, vale 1 maccs 0, shots 1 vale 2, vale o daggers 1, gulls 2 vale 1. (i do not include gulls as f and j) on tuesday night vale will be up against a class act of league 2 and i expect the class act to add another 3 points to their promo tally. vale are being sought in admin by several parties and let us hope they are bought out soon, let us also hope they leave any strong arm tactics in the potts. prediction=== shrews 3 vale 1 att 6009 wroe gornell and collins. come on you shrews breath on em, floreat salopia
This will be another tough game for us - the Vale players and fans always look up for this fixture. Hopefully we will not concede early and the Collins-Gornell partnership will continue its excellent recent form - I predict a crowd of 6000 plus and a 2-0 victory to Town with the two strikers chipping in with one each. It looks like Jake Robinson is due to start against Crawley in a bid to gain himself a place for next year so lets hope he can score his first goal for Northampton and prevent Crawley from winning. We have an excellent chance to put this bogey team nonsense to bed and, more importantly, take another huge stride towards automatic promotion. It seems so close now you can almost smell it and it would be great to get the job done in the last home game of the season against Dagenham.
A repeat of our last performance before fire interupted play, should see us get all 3 points tonight. Salop 2 v 0 Fail (Collins 2) 7561
If we're as disciplined and determined as we have been in recent games we should be fine but I expect it to be a tough and noisy old derby. Would be wonderful if we could play as we were when the last attempt was abandoned.
i wish to alter my attendance figure to 7888 still 3-1 to shrews wroe collins and gornell. ps if cliff richards scores i will eat the program------vale do you, do you do you do you want to dance?
yes matty richards shrews 1 up on 84 points. if shrews stay on 84 points sarfend cannot catch us but gulls and crawley can. we must go on winning and be aware of creepies gd
Matt Richards was my MOTM, but have to say Sir Grandison had another accomplished performance tonight. Collins played well, as did Gornell. Swindon lost, what a turn up for the books that is! 'Ere, you don't think we could, do ya?! Floreat Salopia!
It might have been a quality game of football but it is always too difficult to enjoy when your team is only one goal ahead. If Wright's shot had gone in when it was easier to score than hit the post, I could have rested easy and enjoyed. Fingernails bitten to the quick and finding it difficult to type.
Kasule, I agree completely - a cracking game but too tense to enjoy. We probably just about shaded it but could not have complained if Vale had snatched a point as I was very impressed with their attacking play. Since Mcalister went back to Sheffield our midfield has looked weaker defensively (though a bit more creative) and we needed Neal on top form (I thought he was magnificent all game and would be my Man of the Match). I have just seen our goal again on Sky Sports and it looks more like an error from their keeper than a swerving shot but who cares, we are finding a way to win games when the pressure is on and I do not think anything can stop us now. I have always said we will get promoted by beating Dagenham in our last home game and I am sticking to that prediction. Floreat Salopia!
It was hard to enjoy at times though, with hindsight and the nerves settled, it was a cracking game, mistakes and all. We got a bit jittery at times and our defence worried me by standing off their players and letting the shots come in. In the first game, they only threatened from set pieces. Last night, the threat was from long range shots as well. The players are showing a fantastic mental toughness though, which is just what we need. I'd also give Richards MotM for his calmness and ability to keep possession and keep us ticking over, which influences the whole team. And of course for a terrific goal. I'll be at Accrington on Saturday and, if we win, I won't mind at all if Crawley and Torquay deny us promotion up there. I'm happy for us to need to keep driving for the line and would love us to clinch it at home, in front of most of our fans. Beyond that - Jenny, you never know!
