He's not the kind of CM they're pining for though, at least their fans want someone with creativity and perhaps a flair for goal, which Tiote doesn't offer. As for what they actually need? He'd probably be real help to them. But like you said, shhhh

Good point, I didn't acknowledge that. Can we go with what you said then? Guthrie's a good solid player, but he doesn't have as much influence on a match as Tiote does.

I wouldn't sell, although as i've said before every player has his price. If £30m or more was offered then I think it would make sense to.

Saying that I don't think anybody will offer enough to tempt the club into selling in January and Tiote doesn't seem the sort to agitate for a move in the event that an inferior bid is received.

So I think he will still be our player until the summer at least. The thing is our good players like him and Cabaye will be at risk every window, it is going to be inevitable. Luckily we have Carr to scout out quality replacements.

I disagree. I think Levy would sell, clubs have to balance the books these days!

If we were looking for a replacemtn for Cheik, Blaise Matuidi would be my choice.

I just think that right now, how we're playing and who we have in our team, it would be stupid to sell Tiote even for 30m or something. Selling a top performer mid way through a season doesn't do any favours to our player's opinions on how ambitious the club is and it could have ripple effects not only on some people wanting out but on their performances and morale.

I just want a season where we play well and buy some good players, perhaps even get rid of some dead wood if possible. I also really can't be bothered with another onslaught of "YEAH BUT THE 30M WILL JUST LINE FAT MIKE'S POCKET!!!" comments and depressing discussion about how we're a selling club.

For £30m, if it was reinvested? Yes...

How many of us had a clue who Tiote was, or what a good player he was before he arrived? There's so much talent in other leagues to be found and with £30m we could be Cabaye, Tiote, Ben Arfa, Santon almost twice over...

If Europe is to become a real possibility (we'll know more in January) then we need to strengthen the squad, that probably won't happen without incoming transfer money...If Tiote leaving means we can bring in another RM/LM, LB/RB, CDM and ST then we'd have to consider it seriously!

I guarantee most people here saying "yes I'd sell" will be the most vocal to slag off MA if we actually did sell him.

The 2 posts above here make the most sense (Skalpel and JWAG) but personally I wouldn't sell for any amount of money in January. Zero point in building a good team and brilliant team spirit if we're going to rotate players in and out the door every 2 years.

We should keep him for at least two more seasons after this one. We need to build a team around the likes of Tiote, Cabaye, Krul, Taylor, Colo, and Ba.

I think MA should seriously consider against cashing in on his assets, at least in the Jan window, as the current team is a solid unit and if it carries on performing as it currently is then we will be getting quite a respectable finish position come May. Selling the likes of Tiote in January could disrupt the team spirit and form. It really could be a test of how much money speaks to him over everything else.

The fact is he's a class player but money talks and if I bought a car for 3 grand and someone offered me 20 grand I'd sell it and buy a new one.

Crazy yes fool no. I'm tired of being right about everything to be honest because by the time I'm proved right everyone else is saying what I said then now. ?????
