I know this is an un original selection, but a winner is a winner right? So I urge my army of supporters to buy some money today at Goodwood!

    Shergar, I don't think you're "unoriginal."
    "Aboriginal," maybe!
Joking aside, I think your tips are quite good <ok>

A G1 winner, without a penalty in a G2, is as big a certainty as your going to get. I couldn't believe he wasn't odds on this morning, and he's still drifting out.

If there was any slight concern it would be the clown who trains him, but I'm sure even he won't balls this up, particularly with the superior Al Zarooni putting pressure on him, to start getting some winners for Godolphin:biggrin:

Doesn't sound like your usual, confident self, Shergs! Is this 'cold feet' or covering yourself for when he loses?
Perhaps Emerald Commander will sluice home.....what would you say about Suroor then?

Tam....End of the day, if Poets Voice runs to anywhere near last years Celebration mile form, or last seasons QE2 form, then he wins. It's as simple as that.

Most know im not the biggest fan of SBS, as I believe he underachieves considering the ammunition he gets, sooner or layer he is goingto get the sack:biggrin:

Conflicting messages coming from the yard - apparrently he's been working really well at home but then SBS says he will definitely improve for the run. Last year he had already run before Goodwood in a G3 at Salisbury where he was beaten by Sea Lord. I guess the gamble you take is on his race-fitness, if he is fit enough he wins <ok>

Take out the QE11, which is admittedly by far the best form on offer here, and Poet's Voice begins to look quite ordinary. He didn't beat much in this race last year, and before that he couldn't quite get up to beat handicapper Sea Lord in a poor Gp 3 at Salisbury. Throw in a dissapointing run in Dubai and his absence since then, and it's not hard to see why he's been drifting.

Couldn't have him myself, and have to take him on with Dubawi Gold.

I think Poets Voice is short enough myself, hes the most likely winner if he brings his best but I dont think he is a true Group 1 animal. When he won his Group 1 it was one of those Frankie at Ascot rides and with Makfi not running his race and Rip Van Winkle running 2 furlongs short of his best trip, I didnt rate the race as top form. Red Jazz is a Group 3 horse in my book and he was only beaten half a length. That said, this Group 2 today is his level and the opposition is hardly out of the top drawer so he deserves to be favourite. It could be a bit of a muddling race as there is not alot of natural early speed on show and Set The Trend could be dangerous if allowed to set farsical fractions even though he shouldnt really be good enough. The one who looks overpriced to me is Premio Loco at 9/1 and id rather back him e/w than take 6/4 about the fav.

Very dissappointing from Poets Voice, he looked a bit of a monkey when coming together with Becon Lodge and he is clearly not one to trust at short prices. Good horse on his day though and he maybe needed the run today so I wouldnt completely write him off picking a race up somewhere this season just yet. Surprised they used Emerald Commander as a pacemaker, bit of an insult to a decent horse.

The sooner Saeed bin Suroor gets his P45, the better.

He clearly wasn't in the same form as he was for this race last season, he was pretty much last. He was probably lacking abit in fitness having been out for so long. Sorry guys.

CG....I think he needs to go. Being a trainer for Godolphin means you will get very good horse's in your yard every season, but it is a complete waste of talent sending them to him. Al Zarooni is having a cracking season, and you would want these talented Juveniles going to him. If I was Sheik Mo I'd sack him right away.

Agreed Shergar. Al Zarooni has been running rings around Suroor this season. Poet's Voice ran like a donkey today. Even allowing that it was his first run in a while, the fact that he finished last of 7 in a moderate Group 2 doesn't say much for Saeed bin Suroor's "talents" as a trainer. He even finished behind Riggins off level weights FFS!

As someone once said on 606, it's time to bin suroor. I do wonder why he has struggled so much, because he wasn't a bad trainer a few years back, he was actually a pretty good one. Maybe he has got to comfortable, he doesn't think he needs to put the effort in anymore, and has become lazy in his work, afterall he is filthy rich, so why does he need to bother? Basically he seems to have lost his passion for the game:biggrin:

Shergar, I was the one in 606 who said it was time to bin Suroor, and judging by the results of the past few months, Sheikh Mohammed should've done it ages ago.
I wonder whatever happened to Hilal Ibrahim?? ;)

I think Ibrahim has retired, Either that or he just trains in Dubai, though he doesn't get the backing of Godolphin anymore. The only horse I remember him having, that was any good, was the filly Balanchine, she won the Epsom Oaks and Irish Derby, not many fillys win that, though she finished well down the field in Lammtarra's Arc:biggrin:

Considering they got rid of Hilal Ibrahim fairly quickly, I can't see why they can't get rid of Bin Suroor if he isn't delivering for them. His horses are becoming impossible to predict.
