    To the World Cup.

He is clearly the best passer of the ball england have now. Yes he is not the most athletic player but England have fit players.

He can pick passes left right and centre. Him pinging passes to alli Kane sterling rashford et al would be immense.

Southgate would be stupid not to take him. In a game where opening the door against a compact side or a Ticky tacky side who rely on ball retention would give us a massive advantage. Put some legs around him and he can pick and choose what happens.

Having said that we might lose him if he does well.....

I really can't see him going to Russia, after the exclusion from the friendly squad.

Shelvey has been the standout English centre-mid this season, and given the players we have, would be the most suitable to compliment the squad and International Football in general.

Southgate is an insipid, uninspiring, conservative manager. Shevley will be sat at home this summer. As will Lascelles, and probably the Burnley lads too.

    Why?

He’s had issues before but the biggest, for me, was the racism allegation which he denied and always seemed “iffy” as abused player wasn’t complainant. Also has done stupid things but nothing major as far as I can remember.

I've been saying this for ages. Absolutely no way he is getting selected but for me he is an absolute no brainer. Especially now the Ox is out. Not necessarily a starter but he makes goal scoring opportunities. You need to be able to change it up.

The thing about Shelvey is that he's unlikely to start matches for England and not ideal as a super sub since he lacks pace.

Lascelles should be more in contention for a place tbh, he's a leader at the back which cannot be said for anyone else they're taking. You have to ask what more he could do to warrant a call-up other than moving to a top six club.

Southgate is an arse kissing yes man. Shelvey is clearly the best passer of the ball but falls foul of the FA and Southgate just wants to please his bosses.

Whilst we are at it - Lascelles should be on the plane too. No-one can convince me that eitherChris Smalling or Phil Jones are better defenders. Not in a million years.

I would rather he stayed at home and remained injury free .......................... and carried his current form into next season for us.

He wants to go you can tell from that interview. He has bags of class in the passing front and from a selfish point of view as an England fan I want him to go.

However as people say he is not fashionable and won’t sell shirts. So let’s take another pretty boy instead.

The lad's form has been outstanding for the last few weeks in particular. Absolutely running the midfield in most games, including today. If he was on the England bench and we were struggling to find a goal he would be a great plan B to throw on with Vardy who loves balls in behind defences to run onto. Vardy would be in heaven playing with Shelvey. Kane too. Southgate would be a fool not to take him.

Worryingly this might be what spurs need in their midfield and strike force. If they sign vardy and shelvey they might just be good enough to challenge for the........ top four again!

I personally would take Lascelles and Shelvey.

Unlike others if they don't get picked I will fully understand why as they haven't been good enough over a long period to get picked, and this late charge means they haven't played a lot of football with the team. Normally we criticise managers for this!

However such is the lack of form and quality in midfield and centre half, I think I'd ignore common sense and just pick them. The big debate seems to be about Wilshere. It isn't for me. His form is good, he is injury free and I think he will do well in a tournament type situation. I'd have both there. We are missing Oxlade Chamberlain too who should have been a shoe in after his form for Liverpool. The others I think have done well are Dier, Milner and reluctantly Henderson.

We have Vardy, Rashford and Kane. In some ways I'd be tempted to not play Kane. If we started with a front three of Vardy, Rashford, and Sterling - can you imagine the joy they would get in behind from Shelvey?

Losing Gomez and his versatility is a big blow. Clyne hasn't played enough.

Goalkeepers - Pickford (No.1), Pope, Butland
Defenders - Walker, Alexander-Arnold, Bertrand, Sessegnon, Lascelles, Maguire, Tarkowski, Smalling
Midfielders - Shelvey, Wilshere, Sterling, Milner, Henderson, Dier, Alli, Lingard
Forwards - Welbeck, Rashford, Kane, Vardy

    That's my 23. I'd start with:

    Pickford

    Walker
    Bertrand
    Lascelles
    Maguire

    Dier
    Shelvey
    Alli

    Rashford
    Sterling
    Vardy

Seems crazy leaving out Kane of course. Maybe start him for Rashford.

Yes there is blatant bias here. I wouldn't complain if Henderson or Milner start ahead of Shelvey. Nor would I complain if Smalling beat Lascelles. Kane instead of Rashford. Other than that though that is how I'd go.

The other way to go is 343 of course.

    Pickford

    Dier
    Maguire
    Lascelles

    Walker
    Shelvey
    Henderson
    Bertrand

    Alli
    Sterling
    Kane

I don't like the idea of not playing Vardy though.

His silly early season red card for deliberately standing on Alli probably ****ed his chances

Love the lad to bits but I hate hearing him talk, just seems like there is a few light-bulbs up there needing replacing. :emoticon-0175-drunk
