After reading this article on him (long read but worth it)

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/20/shefki-kuqi-interview

I really hope he comes off the bench and scores a goal, ends a journeyman career on a high.

His story - escaping genocide in Kosovo as a child, trains and boats across Europe to a refugee camp in Finland, and then becoming not only a Finnish citizen but representing the country as an international footballer - puts to shame the spoilt brat kids that make up most footballers these days.

And he fell out with that epic penis Carlton Palmer, so he's definitely a good bloke.

Read it, what an interesting life he's lead. I also really hope he scores, would be a nice Sibierski-esque story if we got to see the celebration at least once.

What annoys me is that journalists have been writing so much crap about how ridiculous it is that we've got him as a "replacement for Carroll". Tony Cascarino, who is a massive ****er, writes for the Racing Post and put rubbish about how Newcastle think they can make a Premiership player out of Kuqi.

Exactly, what he is is a replacement for Shola (when we thought he'd be out for months), the reality is, barring mass injuries, this Saturday is the most likely he is to get a game (since Shola is back very soon with his mask) and Kuqimonster will still be 4th choice. The media are such ****ers when reporting about NUFC.

Yes Cascarino, didn't he play for Repulic of Ireland on a fake passport? Oh and he is kind of hero he did score the Gillingham goal, that relegated Sunderland to the old 3rd Division in 1987. So he can't be that bad. :emoticon-0100-smile

Quite a story and quite a life. At least we know he'll endure the hardship of living in Newcastle though!

It's a good job that buck-toothed, feckless, blinkered, clueless, ugly ****ing Mackem tart didn't write the article, mind.

Quite a heart warming story. Truth be told, he is now living a decent life as a footballer even with his "journeyman" status. I wish him all the best with us and hope he does score. Would love to see the belly flop!!!

I'll be happy with the goal!

Maybe a belly flop when the ground isn't so hard.

After everything he has gone through, an earth shattering belly flop will be just the tonic he needs!

After hearing this story I went onto edit players on FIFA 11 and knocked Kuqi up to a overall 75...A little low yes, but atleast now he will score..

What a fascinating read that was! Maybe he should release an autobiography! I hope he scores the last goal in the last minute of this season (to end his career) to send us into Europe! We can always dream!

Howay mate, that's something a manure fan would say. His life has been exceptional and although he's not the greatest player ever to pull on a toon top there's still room for sentiment in football if you allow it. Good luck to the bloke.

You think that's a bad story - I heard this one about a young lad from Newcastle, this really old rat-faced feller started sniffing about him...started driving a wedge between the little lad (who apparently was a pretty gullible soul) and his family...gave him loads of 'pocket money'...even took him to a Boyzone concert...grooming, I think they call it.

Neva AFC, don't you just hate it when you hear these stories about gullible youngsters being lured away by ice creams, lollipops and MONEY!
