Let's get this going early - last few weeks we've hardly had a match thread to speak about. Looking at the full table, Sheff Wed goal stats are very interesting - only 21 for and only 25 against. They are the lowest scoring team in the entire division - even rock bottom Blackpool have score more. On the other side of the coin, they are very good defensively and only Middlesbrough have conceded fewer goals this season - they are better at keeping teams out than all the rest. With that record in mind, it shouldn't be beyond us to keep them out ourselves, but can we open them up at the same time as well? This is a proper test for Slade tactically, and his team selection and formation to take on the task is going to be interesting. Should he blood the new boys, especially Doyle with one other up front in a 4-4-2 in the hope it comes off so he can tell everyone "I told you so", or should he stick to essentially a 5 man midfield to get a grip on the game possession wise? Whatever, this looks like it's got a nil nil written all over it to me.
I don't want to talk about it.....how you broke my heart Something needs to happen up front. Can Doyle play the lone striker role? Or behind KWJ? Most likely it will be Jones and Revel up from together Manga returning should make our defense better but will he play with Morrison or Connolly? We don't have a bad squad - shows how bad the mismanagement has been!
TEAM NEWS - #CardiffCity: Moore, Peltier, Manga, Morrison, Malone, Whittingham, O'Keefe, Gunnarsson, McAleny, Jones, Doyle. 4-4-2. Clearly learnt nothing from last week against Derby. Debuts for Doyle and McAleny should be interesting, Noone has been in poor form.
The only defence for that formation from Slade is that Wednesday also play a 4-4-2 setup. Like for like it may be, but we need the two new guys O'Keefe and McAleny to add a lot more pace in the middle alongside the pedestrian Whitts and Gunnar.
Given Wednesday lack of goal scoring threat (touch wood) then it makes sense that we should be trying to take the game to them. My worry is that if we win it will justify Slade using for the next 10 games....
Very true - I can see him now saying to Chris Wathan........."See, I told you so you bloody Swansea supporter".......
Yet again Connoly is the fall guy. I'm still struggling to understand why we bought Morrison and sold Hudson.
Anyone else do that team of the decade thing on Player. I went Marshall (keeper), Hudson (defender), Kavanagh (midfield), and Chopra (striker).
Get Revell on for Jones FFS - we're winning at the moment and Slade needs to do something about it......
