I am shocked that nothing official came from the club at the time but I am not shocked by Hunters attitude which is the reason why he is no longer with us. I have heard many bad things about Hunter from several different people.

    Here is the info....

Rovers have parted company with promising young winger Shaquille Hunter. The 18-year-old has not been seen at Rovers Cribbs Causeway training headquarters for a number of weeks and The Post has since been told that the winger left the club just before Christmas.

The reasons behind Hunter's departure are understood to be down to a persistent failure to arrive for training on time, while the winger is said to have also turned up for a match at the Memorial Stadium late on at least one occasion.

The club are believed to have issued Hunter with three official warnings over the matter before entering talks to terminate his contract by mutual agreement to bring his time at the club to an end six months before the two-year deal he signed as a 16-year-old was due to expire in the summer.

Hunter's departure was last night confirmed by his representative Leon Callender, who said:

"Things weren't working out on both sides. It was agreed that coming to a mutual agreement to terminate the contract was the in the best interests of all parties. Shaquille is a young player with a lot of potential and he is now looking forward to moving on his career."

Hunter was earmarked for big things when coming through the Rovers' youth set-up, catching the eye of former manager Paul Buckle in a pre-season match against Bitton while still 15. He continued to train with the first-team squad during Buckle's time in charge and was reported to be attracting the interest of Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester City, who were said to be considering offers that could have eventually netted Rovers about £1 million. The club went on to offer Hunter his first professional contract in the summer of 2012 and he was very much part of Mark McGhee's plans when the squad reconvened after the summer break.

A knee injury suffered in a pre-season friendly against Bristol City in August hampered his progress and he quickly fell out of favour on his return to the squad, before the manager was axed at Christmas. Hunter returned to the youth team for the remainder of the campaign and played an instrumental role as the youngsters landed a league and cup double under the guidance of Alan Walsh, before being offered another chance to stake a claim for a first-team place by Ward last summer.

    Ward said in pre season:

"Shaq wasn't ready to join the senior group last season, but he's a player that comes to me highly recommended by a number of people and will have the same opportunity as everyone else. He's got the ability to progress, without doubt, and now it is a case of him showing the desire to really push himself on. If he can do that then I'm sure we'll really have a player on our hands. He has worked hard through the summer to get himself fit and ready to come back and join up with the senior group and it's up to him now to give himself the best chance."

Hunter made his senior debut as a late substitute against Exeter City on the opening day of the season and made three further appearances off the bench. He was last seen in a Rovers shirt when a development side lost 3-0 to Yate in the Gloucestershire Challenge Trophy at Lodge Road in November.

My view on it is he didn't seem too pleased about going back to the youth team after making the step up to the 1st team.

He may have talent but we don't need his attitude here so bye bye enjoy playing for bath or stacking shelves at tesco.

Yep, I agree with Danny. He has undoubted potential but his attitude stinks. Bye Shaq - enjoy non-league as that's all you'll get unless you grow up a bit.

Plenty of people have the ability, but you need the right attitude to succeed...
