If Sissoko is our first choice RW then someone at the club needs a serious talking to. He is not a right winger by any stretch of the imagination. Just cos he's got pace doesn't make him a winger. His crossing ain't that great and he would be far better deployed behind a front two.

Obertan looked decent once he got into his rhythm and certainly showed flashes of his better performances last season before he got injured. I wouldn't be too dissatisfied with Obertan on the right and Aarons on the left. Don't think Cabella or Perez are best suited out wide either. Not sure we'll see much of Cabella if I'm honest...maybe if Sissoko is sold he'll make the bench now and then or if we've got a bunch of players on the treatment table.

I think Sissoko just doesn't fit NUFC. He doesn't link defence/attack, he isn't a DM, and he's not really as technically gifted as Wijnaldum/SDJ. RM is the only "space" in the squad and I have to assume that these moves for Shaqiri are being done with one eye on selling Sissoko. We're well stocked on the left, a club like us has to put up with the likes of Obertan in the squad, so I just don't get Sissoko's role.

Im pretty certain we will cash in on sissoko and if im honest its because clubs will offer more than hes worth, however i think his pace and power will be miss in our side.

Great signing by them that. I rate this lad highly. He will need to adapt his game but his quality is sky high.

If Stoke can sign Shaqiri, and given the cash in our bank, why the fck am I still seeing Obertan, Haidara, Colo, Willo and Gouffran in this squad?!

Stoke has the advantage of location. Even though it is classed as the West Midlands it has the advantage of being only 30 miles (40 mins) from Alderley Edge where loads of the Man United and Man City players live. I once nearly knocked Mark Hughes down on the main road through Alderley Edge (genuinely) when he was Man City manager. Luckily for me it was his fault and he was very apologetic. I wouldn't fancy being on the wrong end of him being angry.

I think it's a genuine attraction being so close to other players they know and one that will be exploited by Stoke. Once you're 10 minutes out of Stoke you are into Cheshire and some of the richest areas of the UK. I used to live about ten miles outside of Stoke and even though Stoke is a dump, there are some really nice areas very close to it.

I tend to agree. I think he is a bit confused about where he is best in our team, actually I think it would be the same in any team. I think it's coz he is a bit limited technically but...he has attributes that makes him pretty useful in a few different positions. He usually looks best out wide for us as runs powerfully at defenders when coming in from the right. Problem is that makes us a bit narrow. He is quite predictable and leaves space out wide when we lose the ball. Same in the middle really. Powerful running can cause problems he is less predictable here, times those late runs into the box quite well but doesn't really have the abilty or graft to run the show which you need in that MF role he wants to play. Basically I wouldn't want to sell him as is pretty useful but I think he needs to be technically quite a bit better before we or any other team can get very excited about him. I think he is still here because despite other teams admiring his qualities on further examination he is just not technically a good enough footballer for the kind of clubs that he gets linked with.

I doubt Alderley Edge has anywhere near as much to do with his decision as the amount of money Stoke offered him. This is ultimately what motivates players in 99% of cases.

I would honestly place Pennywell ahead of Stoke.

Can't believe the location has an awful lot to do with it. I mean players sign for Liverpool so that can't be it.

He's on £65-70k p/week at Stoke. That's why he has gone there.

Totally agree. Just think people can sometimes look at Stoke and wonder why players would want to play in a ****hole. My point is that it wont put them off if everything else is to their liking and that it might actually be appealing for them and their families rather than offputting.
