I know from reading posts that we are split on the red card.
Me I think he was going for the ball missed it and stood on the lads foot.

No matter what me must appeal it, losing him for he rest of the season doesn't bare thinking about.

It was harsh, but we wouldn't win the appeal, they tend to go with the referee and his studs landed on the top of his foot.

The players have to step up <ok>

We won't win the appeal. They will not overturn a decision where a player has gone over the top of the ball (as much as I think it was a yellow not a red card)

Plus Probert is a Cnut who never gives us anything.

That said We have to appeal it. I would take a 1 game extension of the ban for the chance to have him available for the run in.

Was never a red, he was slightly late and should have been a yellow.

Is that a one or three match ban?

Shocking decision, some of these refs will get challenges done away with.

Was never a red but these appeals are always loaded towards the refs decision.

Think we should plan for not having him now till next season.

Step up Mandron or come back Wickham imo?

He was appealing before the tackle was made.

Paolo has just said that it wasn't a red and will appeal. <ok>

Mandron looked good when he came on. Stoke probably too important a game for him to play though

That was the worst red card decision I've seen all year.

How can you get a 3 game ban for stepping on someone's toe and that Wigan player got nothing?!

It wasnt even as bad as Gouffran's on AJ and that was a yellow, he had a good game really the ref and then just whipped out a horrendous decision when we were 4-1 down, only one word for him, ******!

That wont get recinded, even though it should, Giroud slipped the other week and got a 3 game ban, its totally wrong the system.

Goufranne did a worse tackle on Johnson and got a yellow............that must be the case for the defence.

    Lee Pervert is a twat

Its a contact sport ffs, people mis-time challenges hence the award of a free kick but yellows/reds are just dished out so easy these days.

    WE WANT CONTACT BACK!

Referees spoil football and that is a fact, is that the beauty of the game? No its not, scoring great goals is the beauty not getting a penalty award because someone unleashes a 100 mph shot from 0.2m away and strikes your arm or standing on someone's toe. The rule needs clarified, studs up does not necessarily mean a bad tackle and for ****s sake man no-one has ever died from a bad tackle, the way bad tackles are portrayed as 'career threatening' is so over the top it borders on stupidity,

Yup, Probert is a twat. and whilst that wasn't a red, i cannot see that being rescinded. I hope to **** Whickham gets fit, and soon.....

I admire Di Canios reaction though - nails it. no hiding, no blaming, just saying it how it was:

"It is a very bad performance, it's not acceptable. But, it's happened and we have to make sure this humiliation makes us understand that the job is not done. Two wins in a row is not enough to stay up. There was a difference between us and Aston Villa in terms of commitment, desire and dedication. We will work harder in the next couple of weeks to get the points in order to stay up. Aston Villa looked tonight like Sunderland did in the last two games, there was a fire, ferocity in their intention. There was a big difference between us and them in terms of desire."

all the ****e in the press from players mouthing off - esp two of the biggest culprits tonight: Cuellar and N'Diaye (I'm sorry, but he looked like he'd smoked a massive spliff the way he was floating about, until about 5 mins to go), when will they ever learn to just shut the **** up and just play the game.
