On the subject of pain but of a different nature. My wife recently ran off with my best mate...God I miss him.

Ditto Chesh, Doc's must have had a standard script to read from in those days. Said the same to me, but kept on playing. Running on hard surfaces gave me a bit of jip, otherwise nae problemo.

I'm here all night and it's got **** all to do with knee injuries, but on our honeymoon night in Las Vegas my newly wed missus was inspecting the honeymoon suite.

She discovers a little box attached to the bed and asked what is was for.

So I said look if you put a quarter in the bed starts vibrating.

Save your money, she said when you're a quarter in, I start vibrating.

Broke my ankle playing 5 a side - still walked to the car in the hope I could drive home as 'it was only a sprain'. 7 weeks in a non load bearing plaster cast with crutches - bastards.

I ruptured my planta fascia (the bit that gives the underside of your foot the arch shape) playing football on outside pitches at Airco. Jumped for a header and it snapped due to the action of jumping
Went to pub after and moaned a lot so I didn't have to actually go to the bar and someone would take my cash for a round instead
Woke up and it was agony and jet black all round my foot
Went to hospital and the Dr said it was so bad he'd like to bring students in to look!
Students came in and he said 'you probably won't see one this bad again...it's the type of injury you normally see in elite athletes like high jumpers or hurdlers'

Felt quite good then, although I do realise the unsaid end of his sentence was '...not like this overweight middle aged bloke who thinks he can play once in a blue moon and still outjump all the youngsters to win a header!'

I did break my big toe running for the train at Brough when I was at Hull College. Slipped on ice, did like a handstand and landed full force big toe on the concrete. Thought nothing of it.

Train arrived into Hull - walked to Queens gardens college, hmmm shoes a bit tight. Went to full mornings lectures. Dinner time arrived - hmmm my shoe is stuck on due to swelling. Being a tight Yorkshireman - walk from Queens Gardens to Hull Royal.

X-Ray - Big Toe fractured full width <laugh><laugh> it hurt by the time they managed to get my shoe off<laugh><laugh>

I've had issues with Plantar Fasciitis now for several years - when its bad its really really ****ing painful, and I've got a very high pain threshold. So what you did Dennis sounds bloody awful. And how the hell did you do all that in one go to your knee? My Missus did multiple (4) soft tissues in her knee when some little **** on a snowboard rear ended her (fnarr fnarr) whilst skiing this past winter, luckily none were bad enough for surgery.

I'll tell you all about having both my ACLs redone another time, and having knee surgery under local anaesthetic when the surgeon offered it to me, that was different I can tell you.
