I don't know if anyone follows the Secret Footballer in The Guardian every Saturday but week in week out the column is a great insight to the footballing world at the coalface. It's also great fun trying to guess who he might be. Satruday's article was a bit eerie given the events of yesterday. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/nov/25/the-secret-footballer?newsfeed=true RIP Gary Speed.
I've found it to be a really interesting column- pulls no punches. I didn't read Saturday's for some reason, will have to rescue it from the recycling. It always leaves me trying to work out who it is. On a lighter note, after the sadness of Gary Speed... Martin Kelner in today's Guardian bemoans the difficulty of following a non-premier league club via The Football League Show. He also has a little bit of interest to those of us following the T Priskin goal rush. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/nov/27/football-league-show-manish-bhassin
Always read it...if for no other reason than it defies the stereotype that all professional footballers are dim... The writer often brings a fresh view, the analysis is always thoughtful and the style readable. The identity thing has added an extra dimension...Clark Carlisle anyone?
I sometimes read this, and is certainly one of the better football articles out there. I thnk one of the columns suggested he wasn't a defender. I got the impression it was Danny Murphy!
Yeah, Clark was one of my guesses. I also wondered about David James but have got the impression that whoever it is is not a keeper.
Daid James would have been a good shout but for the fact that he was writing a regular column in the Saturday Guardian I think up util the moment the Secet Footballer began.
There is actually a very good piece in the Telegraph today by Alan Hansen dealing with several issues within the game when it comes down to troubles. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-culture-cries-for-help-often-go-unheard.html
