I wonder what most loyal Pompey fans make of this !!! The club publishes new rates for season tickets and furthermore a lot of season ticket holders and other fans are up in arms because the early bird time window has shortened somewhat . Now what gets me is this . We are so quick in judging BC and LK that they are not putting their money where their mouth is , or lack of it , then when we are asked to pump up some extra dosh , By God we let rip !!! Now the ball is in our court . I say to most grumblers . Put up or shut up .

I thought the initial rumpus was about the shortness of the early bird window - having to pay a lump sum in cash, or make out a cheque to the previous company (not the new post-admin company), or finance through an unregulated (FSA) finance company with an admin charge added rather than the increase - added to the fact that the credit/debit card facilities will only be available as soon as the early bird window closes. The grumbles about the increase came later.

Well, there should be something on the OS or in the News tomorrow. DL, after the meeting with the fans, says he is going to take back these issues (which did include these pretty short time frames) to the board and tomorrow we shall hear something in response.

    Here's hoping...

Hi 3rd eye . I hope our friends do not think that I was having a go for grumbling about the season tickets situation . It is in our nature to grumble about anything that moves or changes . But hey , the club need to operate on a shoestring budget , they need cash . We are experts at criticisizing our Chairman because apparently he does not invest enough in the club .I personally disagree , cos IMO , without him , I doubt if we would be here today . If I loved my club so much that I would do anything to support it , then surly when my club comes calling I would help , even if it is for an extra 50 quid or so a year .

Hi Maltesepomp. I think it's the snooze site that has the most grumbling, they seem to egg each other on until the original moan becomes something quite different. It's fascinating for someone like me who is a people-watcher.

The problem was that the early bird was for 2 weeks only - that was a bit of a grumble but not too much of a problem until someone pointed out that the cheques had to be made out to PFC Realisations - which as you know is the company which was in admin. Then someone said the cash was going straight to BCs pocket - that was when all hell was let loose. Add to that the fact that no credit/debit cards until immediately after the early bird period finishes and the fuel was added to the fire.

I'm with you on this. But it was a PR disaster for Lampitt. Now they are talking about a boycott of the season tickets and calling anyone who has bought theirs a "scab". Being so far away I'm not a season ticket holder so I've kept my nose out of this - but I do agree with you - BC is a reluctant owner who wants his money back but he is not allowed to take money out of the club, they've said that so many times. Lack of trust I suppose has caused this problem.

I am a season ticket holder, the only thing I was unhappy about was the lack of time (just two weeks), plus I have to buy three tickets so £1350 which is a lot to find with no notice. Also living and working away means little access for me except for weekends and then a round trip of 3+ hrs.

I had no issue with the increase or who it had to be paid to, also not an issue on the credit card front.

Anyhow I managed to scrape it together and get to FP before the ticket office closed at 1pm today paying by cheque. But still very pissed off that we were given no pre-notice and just two weeks to pay and no way to pay over the phone or electronically. Rant over.

I fully agree. Do these "fans" who are refusing to renew their ST realise that they are cutting their noses off to spite their faces, and that they are actually doing the club a massive injustice and potential damage, with little to no effect the the clowns in the boardroom?

Seems to me that we both support clubs that are poor when it comes to PR exercises.

You're not wrong there - just been having a little tiny spat on the snooze site with a PFC bod who has taken exception to a journalist doing what comes naturally ie. stirring things up for the sheer hell of it........ it's like asking a scorpion not to sting you......... it's in his nature. Some people just never learn.

Quite agree with you SFCBAG. PR is not Pompey's strong point at the moment. "It's good to talk", as Bob Hoskins used to say in the old BT adverts.
