Well its that time of year again where the season ticket renewal forms are dropping through the door . JWM has stated in a moment of anger that he wont be renewing . Is this still the case . would be interesting to get a few thoughts from the town 606'rs on who will be renewing and who wont or anyone thinking of getting a 1st time season ticket . i personally will be renewing mine altho in angry moments i say i wont . IMO i think most people would miss the saturday thing too much . waking up saturday morning knowing there is a match on gettin ready to meet their mates for a few beers before the game etc etc . I know it hasn't been the best of seasons and we all keep looking for that corner our team will turn but thats what being a football supporter is all about . thoughts
I will be renewing mine, my son (13 yrs) is still undecided, spoke to him last night and he said " I will let you know after the next two games" how fickle is that....!
I stand by my decision, I will not be renewing for next year, first time since 1987. Call me fickle after 25 years but next year I will just go on an adhoc basis. There are 5 of my mates who are ST holders and we have all decided to do the same thing. I want to see some real ambition from this club and sadly at the moment all I hear is promises!

that's a great article Supers and hit the nail on the head. The worrying thing is... if someone like JWM doesn't want to renew his season ticket that is serious. Someone who knows what this club is capable of and has seen it happen in front of his eyes before. There are kids now of the age where they'll be financially independent enough to buy their own season tickets... but all they'll remember is... well nothing! It wouldn't surprise me if the 18-25 was the most important market. Before boys are married or have other financial obligations, while they're going with their mates. Nevermind someone renewing, Clegg has to convince people to try it for the first time too! We've blown it for this season, there's nothing he can do for this summer.He can't change his attitude because as that article aptly points out... if you have to ask you'll never know. I think it may take another couple of disasters to get the club shaken up. A relegation battle next season might do us more good than a top half finish.
Yorkie - I will still buy the new home & away tops for me and my boys but until I see some real ambition from the club in the transfer market, the development of the youth system and a serious plan of action put in place I will not commit for another season. To be truthful I am just plain bored of mediocrity and the Watford result for me just made my mind up. I will still go to Portman Road next season and a few away games but after all this time I just want to see a little reward for what has been a nightmare 4 or 5 years!
I don't blame you and I think the main factor has to be that we both know what'll happen next season. A very good run is a very good run, but you have to be able to do it all season now to get promoted. The main reason I dont have high hopes is Jewell's leaving Hyam out shows that he hasn't learnt anything and he stumbled across his best XI for a little while.
worse than that - he's going instead with a player who hasnt put in a shift for two years until his contract is up!
I agree Yorkie! Nothing I have seen this year from Jewell has convinced me that next year will see us mount a serious promotion push. With the club now seemingly obsessed with driving down costs I can't see there being too many marque signings in the summer. I just wish to be proved wrong!
I'm hoping that PJ has learnt from this season that he needs a drastic overhaul in defence (if you can call what we have a defence), we can score against anybody in this league, the main problem is we can get humped by anybody in this league. I'm like JWM, the thing is it will probably cost me more doing that way then getting the season ticket. You can only treat a football club like a business so far, in the end its all about risks and gambles! nothing more, nothing less!
When Burley and to a slightly lesser extent Royle were in charge I had no second thoughts whatsoever about renewing my tickets because I was entertained by the football we played. Since Magilton we have been served up complete and utter dross in the main with a sprinkling of memorable games such as the Arsenal! It simply isn't good enough and many of people who were undecided last year will not be renewing this year. We all love the club but we can't keep being taken for mugs!
I will be renewing if finances and time constraints allow. I can understand why people may be disillusioned but I cant walk away from my team.
Tractorbhoy it isn't a question of walking away! Please don't claim the moral high ground in this debate. I respect your point of view and fair play but there are some loyal supporters who feel that the time has come to just hold back and only go to selected games.
Im not on any moral ground whatsoever and I dont know why you think I am. I havent mocked anyone else and am not going to claim 'true supporter' status. Everyone is free to do what they wish. We go to football as a choice and it is our choice to buy season tickets, go to odd matches, listen on the radio or just keep an eye on results.
I literally meant what I wrote. I can understand why some may not renew due to lack of progress/ direction or do not enjoy going anymore. On more than 1 occasion I have questioned why I turn up and watch such rubbish (normally when delaney touches the ball) I can also understand that with the current 'wider' situation and general unease that others may feel there hard earnt cash is better spent elsewhere but for me, I have some inbuilt stupidity that means as long as I can go I will.
it doesn't really come down to loyalty does it? These are not people who only go along when Man U or Arsenal or Norwich are in town. I can understand everyone's take on it but personally I know that most of my ticket money goes on wages for the players, the manager and the Chief Exec. At least it's not embarrassing to go and watch Town for the first time in two or three years, I think we've all got swept away because of that, but we need to keep seeing progress and we need to start seeing real ambition.
wont be buying (i'd be a first time buyer) simply because i live in wales and the travel costs are way way out of my budget. If i lived in suffolk i would simply because i love the matchday experience win draw or lose
