I would have loved one of my favourite Irish players playing for Southampton!

Hi thebronze, are there many up and coming young Irish players at the moment? I have heard of a guy called Karl Sheppard who is rated highly and plays upfront for Shamrock Rovers but know little about him.

Irish football is crap. I nearly went on loan to Dungannon when I was 17 to get fit again. Chose to stay here as I was still at college. If anyones going to make it over here, they're going to be literally tearing that league apart at a young age.

That has not stopped Wolves and Reading from sifting out a few diamonds from Irish football at a young age: Kevin Doyle, Stephen Ward, Noel Hunt and Shane Long all played for a few seasons in Ireland before coming over here.
