I know ive mentioned this before but im going to say it again, why the **** did we let Scott go for a lousy £500,000 without really ever giving him a chance ?He has the pace and the ability to go past players with ease, which is something we have lacked since Robben left and oh I almost forgot....he scored nearly 30 Fukin goals this year !! TRAGIC.
The thing is... If we are not using our youth set up to bring through new talent AND we only sell our best for £500 000, then what is it for?? Just a waste of club money! We need to sort it out!!
The way OUR club is run now with this champions league do or die attitude John Terry wouldnt have made it through the youth system because he wouldnt have been given time like he was way back then,we would probably sell him and buy some fantasy football type name.Scott was never given more than just little bit parts and the same goes for Stoch(another player with the pace we lack) and also now mancienne who had great potential a couple of years ago but was farmed out to a struggling side(no disrespect to Wolves)and now been plundered from our grasp by Arnesen for Hamburg.Expect to see Josh go the same route as we probably wont give him a chance,so why waste money on a youth system when we just sell em on......POINTLESS.
This is the clueless type of prick we have to deal with at Chelsea now,the type who think we were invented by Jose Mourinho in 2004 and any player who isnt foreign and costs at least £25 million isnt chelsea quality.....pathetic.
Its my guess that those players mentioned by King Kerry left the club because of too few 1st team chances due to their diminutive stature. All clubs these days prefer a good 'big un' Which is great as they tend to be stronger and faster? Well until you look at Chelsea greats like Ron Harris, John Hollins, Dennis Wise, Tommy Baldwin or world greats such as Messi, Xavi & Maradona all small guys. Like Kerry this pisses me off too. What's the point of having an academy and retaining smaller players spending millions developing them only to let them go for a pittance? Makes my blood boil
I was disappointed that we let him go. I don't feel he was any less promising than any of the other young players we have had at the club in recent seasons. I was enthused every time I saw him play for us which is more than I can say for Kakuta. However, although he's done really at Swansea, it will be interesting to see how he does in the Premier League next season as the step up in quality is significant.
It's the same old story unfortunately... Will Kakuta get another chance? Borini, Cork, McEachran et al all get praise for their talents, but will no doubt get sold on at some point in favour of "bigger" signings...quite how that is going to help us with our home grown quota I don't know... This team now needs to be re-built, and the integration of key reserve players is integral to the development of the club but I'm not sure Roman has the patience for it, even though he's spent shed loads setting it up...
he isnt good enough for chelsea. he didnt even get in the wigan team when he was there. he is a good championship player but it will be interesting to see how he does next season with swansea!
The problem we have is that no manager is really going to give youngsters a chance when they know that if they don't get immediate success they will be sacked. Fergie and Wenger have the backing of their boards and can therefore take more risks with youth. United have struck a good blend of youth, established players and signings to maintain success. Arsenal haven't really. I wouldn't want to go 6 years without a trophy just for the sake of bringing through kids who may never be good enough. There has to be a balance. However you would have to say that surely the likes of Josh, Kakuta and Sturridge should be given more oppotunities at the very least. Good luck to Scott but he never really looked like making it with us. The step up from the Championship to the Premiership is massive and then to cut it in a top 4 side each week is even bigger.
I was a big fan of Sinclair when he first burst onto the scene and I genuinely thought he was going to make it as a Chelsea player. But we do have to look at the facts. Sinclair has made little impression at Premier League level when he´s played either for Chelsea or when he was on loan at Wigan. Scoring goals in the Championship is different to scoring in the Premier League as many good Championship players have found out over the years (David Nugent springs to mind). Factor in the extra pressure for playing for a top four club and maybe we have to come to the conclusion that young Scott just isn´t quite good enough for Chelsea. I am however annoyed that we only got 500,000 for Sinclair. He must be worth several times that amount by now.
i can understand your frustrations but he has been great for us. and im sure it will actually be 1million we have give you know after promotion and goal add-ons. i can see why you would think that still isnt enough. what about farming some more of your cast offs to us. himand borini have been great although borini has gone on 5 year contract to parma. oh well .any promising players that you wouldnt mind lending us on loan this season?
What a stupid comment. Its almost as dumb as you opening post. Sinclair would not get near our first team so why would we keep him? He would be behind malouda, zhirkov, kalou, anelka and benayoun for a spot on the wing if was still at the club and he is better than none of these players. I think you are clueless as you believe we have any use for him.
Harsh! Players develop given the time, esp real game time in the prem. Granted not everyone makes it but... How many times did sinclair, stoch, sturridge, borini etc really get to play? It amounts to four fifths of **** all, because RA demands success, as do some of our fans.
Not quite good enough although I agree that was a very poor price. I'm happy with what we got for Mancienne though as he had to be the most overated player on our books. What really disturbs me is what the **** has happened to Kakuta. He was seen as being a future great and so far he has been toss.
All those players you quote are a damn sight older than scott sinclair and established, the point is to bring on the youth over time. By your theory we might as well sell Josh because he is currently behind lamps, essien, mikel, ramieres etc in midfield. He may never have made it but never got the chance and is now doing really well now he's getting games.
Hey Guys, new on here!! Just a quick question, how many of you would actually be happy if we regularly fielded a starting 11 consisting of 2 or 3 youths, i.e bruma, Mc Eachran, Kakuta etc while still trying to challenge for major honours, and at the expense of who, Terry, Lampard, Malouda? How long would the fans give them if they werent performing, its very difficult to blood more the 1 at a time I would imagine, hence all the loans? Still though, I really hope Josh gets a run next season, as he didnt disappoint even once last year! Just a thought
I think you're right... we should be starting 1 to 2 reserve players that show real promise and integrating them with the experience that we have would be excellent for them. Lots of pressure on the manager to succeed though is hindering that... Last year we got it wrong by letting too many go and then relying on a smaller squad with exp to carry the can...Carlo could have been a bit more canny with his team selection, but pressure from upstairs seemed to affect his willingness to play them...
He's a good player but still relies on his pace too much rather then skill. Could potentially have made it here with a lot of work as an impact player but no more than that, Stoch had a lot more to his game IMO. To those who think it was a massive mistake in letting him go do you also think Shane Long, Danny Graham, Nathan Dyer and Taarabt are good enough for us?
To those who think it was a massive mistake in letting him go do you also think Shane Long, Danny Graham, Nathan Dyer and Taarabt are good enough for us? absoultely, u have morons like drogba, anelka, terry, lampard, get the youth going because you will go down without it
