Can go in my opinion. Been stalling on signing a contract, just waiting for him to declare he won't be signing as Brendan has gone. (being a cynical sort I'm starting to wonder when Liverpool first had a conversation with Brendan....think about it, alleged Liverpool target Sinclair refuses to sign contract extension until the summer....a fee agreed for Siggurdsson that is much lower than what Liverpool would have had to pay for him) For me he was the biggest under performer last season. Let's get as much money for him as possible as early as possible and hand it to Laudrup to bring in a forward or two. Within the existing squad we have options there in Routledge and Graham. Thoughts?
He is one player that will not have the benefit of Rogers' patronage to cover is less than stellar average performance. I am open to any upgrade the club could make in that position.
FC Utrecht winger Edouard Duplan is being lined up for a move to the Premier League, Sky Sports understands. and Swansea city is favourite I dont want Sinclair to go but his place be challenged!
I don't think he had a great season and would rather we looked at other positions. He may get better though.
I thought he drifted in and out of too many matches and found it difficult. But he was gold boy in BR's eyes. Would I say Routledge was better though? No. Another winger to challenge them all would be great.
They both did a good job for you, but you are right that in such an attacking formation you need more from those 2 players and someone to challenge them both would be good for your team. I think in an ideal world you need to keep them both and add someone to give them a bit of competition.
Dyer & Sinclair are the pace that creates space . I'd hate to lose Sinclair just when his all around game has improved the team . If he does go , we need a replacement because although Wayne " Frogger " Routledge is good cover & a great sub , he won't generate the space for others with his two steps forward & one step to the side approach to the game .
We all know sincs has got it in him to excell for us if he stays perhaps his new gaffa can get it back out of him ?
I wouldn't want to lose Sinclair. We all know what he is capable of largely because of how be performed in the Championship. Last season he didn't do as well and was often frustrating as he'd lose the ball when trying to get past a player. Don't forget that he has a different approach to Dyer so you can't compare the way they get past a player. Also defenders in the PL are much much better than those he played against in the Championship. But when he got it right he was amazing. He scored some cracking goals and baffled quite a few defenders. It would be a shame to lose such a talented young player. And on top of that he's a really nice lad.
Face it: most of us would be pleased if he signed on the dotted line. In a squad with limitations we don't want to be losing our better players - and he's one of them.
And he has a hot missus who is doing a good job promoting the City of Swansea to the people of twitter (so my girlfriend tells me).
I like Sinclair, and I do think he's one of our better players, but he frustrates me something rotten. Given his skill set, he should be causing way more problems for any opposing team, and also helping us out more by making more "selfless" runs. The only position he ever seems to receive the ball in is left wing, facing his own goal, static. For someone with his pace, that's criminal. When we get the ball and start to break, he should be hitting that channel almost every time because by doing so he'll create space in the centre of the park for our midfield (which also happens to be our strongest facet) to utilise. I was banging on about this last season and sadly, over an entire season, I didn't see this trait change. For me, it indicates laziness as he seems unwilling to make runs unless he knows he's going to get the ball straight away. Also, if he does this, it means the right back and centre back opposing him won't be able to tuck in tight against him every time because they don't know what he's going to do. At present he's so predictable he's limiting his options before he even gets the ball! As I've said though, I do like him and I think with a bit of work he'll be an excellent player. I am starting to wonder whether he'll pull his finger our though...could we be looking at another Jerome Thomas (WBA, ex-Arsenal trainee)?
Part of Sinclair's problem is Taylor receiving the ball from him & 9 times out of ten Taylor going back to the CB . Taylor seemed to have come out of his defensive shell late in the season & I hope he helps Sinclair come forward more at the start of this season with a bit more aggression .
I'd disagree completely. I'd say Taylor is doing that because Sinclair is so predictable he never has any options. If Sinclair was varying his position Taylor can (and has proven he liked to) get forward and link up excellently. If Sinclair was making more runs out into the channel, it would give Taylor more space to run into/play passes into. Obviously, I didn't make many games last year and I could be wrong, but that's been my impression of Sinclair for a long while now.
That's a very good point Scott. To often our midfield play the ball out to behind the winger rather than in front for him to run on to. Gower is very good at pinging those long range passes out to the wings in space for the winger to run on to.
You can set your watch to Taylor going back to the CB most of the time , regardless where the ball is kick to him or the attacking situation . Dyer has better luck with Rangel because Rangel's always looking to get the ball forward . Just an opinion ..
Nah I'm with Scott on this one, Taylor is forced into those sideways passes because all Sinclair does is run towards him and show feet thereby congesting that whole area. At least Dyer spins and goes down the line. Sinclair has also become a bit of a one-trick pony where he always looks to cut inside and take a shot...worked great in the Championship, but Premier League defenders aren't mugs and have sussed this easily....must frustrate the living hell out of Graham. All being said he has undoubted talent, but I actually think his main issue is confidence in himself to take players on down the line and not worry as much about the team's possession as that's what the other 9 players are for (both winger-forwards need to be bold and aggressive with their movement) Problem is I'm not sure he'll respond that well to competition for his place - as I've said I feel he's a confidence player... Think he just needs to study some wing play and get some coaching...I imagine Laudrup will be able to lend him some pointers!
Yeah I'm with Scott too. Many times I was frustrated hoping that we'd chip the ball over the top for someone to run onto but the runs were nowhere to be seen
Spot on .... Mr Predictable does the same thing most of the game, every game. Rarely is he prepared to turn with the ball, and he almost always receives the ball static and because of this inevitably plays the ball back to Taylor without even looking for the give and go inside square. When static, even if facing into the field or forward, he just doesn't seem to have that burst of acceleration to skin a back from a dead stop. If he has it he's got to show it more ... a lot more.
I would like it if he signs but if Laurdrup has someone better in mind then so be it! Have to agree with what has been said previously, in that he wont get the same forgiveness for poor performances like he did with Rodgers....hopefully!
