Barnsley Football Club can confirm the departure of First Team Head Coach, Markus Schopp, with immediate effect. The Club places on record its appreciation for Markus’ efforts and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours. Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, said: “On behalf of everyone at Oakwell, I would like to thank Markus for the last few months and wish him well for the next step in his career. “I would like supporters to know that the process for finding a suitable replacement is underway and we will announce a new appointment in due course.” Markus Schopp remarked: "I would like to thank all those who have accompanied me in this short but very intense time. It is a pity that our hard work was not reflected in the results. I wish the club all the best for the future and that they will achieve all their goals." Joseph Laumann will take charge of first team affairs on a temporary basis, starting with Wednesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash with Derby County. The Club will not make any further comment at this time.
When i saw it my first reaction was ****, they will be up for it come saturday trying to impress the new or soon to be new manager.
Seems the majority if managers who have been sacked in the last month or so will probably ly have better records then our incumbent, beggars belief why he is still here, best run club my arse
Scunny have sacked their manager according to Burnsy……come Ehab make Grant the 4th sacking of the morning!!
correct me if I'm wrong ..... Schopp 0.562 points per game (9 from 16 - yep, pretty bad!!) Edit: 0.533 (8 from 15, league games) McCann 0.428 points per game (15 from 35 - abysmal))
If you're comparing like for like you should really only look at this season for Terry, same as Schopp. It's still bad but not quite as bad, Schopp, 8 from 15 Terry, 9 from 15
I get that logic, but it's impossible to compare truly 'like for like' (different club, different players, etc etc). So the original comparison could be argued as being just as, if not more, logical? Could also argue with logic that McCann's performance (!) is worse given that he's had longer with his players than Schopp had with his? Again, all pretty academic!
they will appoint somebody just in time to give them a boost ahead of our game Saturday , Derby this week too, big week for them
Ah - but when you look at Grants total Championship record in full, that takes some beating. Nobody comes close to his level of ****ness.
Day jar view all over again. Didn't they do that last time we played them at Oakwell and they comfortably humped us 3-0?
