Although none of us are happy with how this season went, one thing I am absolutely delighted about is the amount of deadwood that we are FINALLY able to shed this season. (I don't consider everyone in this list as deadwood but we all know which ones are worthy of that tag!)

Now these figures are all speculative and taken from various sources on the net (And football manager for those I couldn't find) so may need to be taken with a pinch of salt but I calculated almost £21 million will be saved this season in WAGES alone! (This includes wages paid to 4 loan players this season also.) No I am absolutely ecstatic about this, and its one step closer to closing the door on the loony Hughes era when we were throwing money around and being taken advantage of by agents and having an inexperienced Board.

    Dunne: £30,000
    SWP: £60,000
    Barton: £70,000
    Green: £50,000 -
    Murphy: £20,000
    Ferdinand: £35,000
    Zamora: £35,000

    Niko: £25,000
    Vargas: £30,000
    Isla: £25,000
    Zarate: £20,000

I honestly cant wait to add Taarabt and Traore to that list.

Yes losing 10 players is never ideal, but it frees up some cash, will help us comply with FFP and also gives Ramsey a chance to build a squad in his own image. I don't think we'll be challenging for the Championship but the optimist in me hopes that with a bit of investment in the right areas and a bit of luck we can sneak into the play-offs.

Of that list, the only one I am sad to see leaving is Vargas. It is not clear to me whether he was one of the 'bad eggs'. If he was, good riddance. If not, he could have had fun in the Championship next season.
Special mention for OBZ. Had to go of course but what a momentous and joyful memory!

Didn't Vargas refuse to come on as a sub against Palace - while that does not make him a bad egg per se (we don't know all the details) it does suggest he is perhaps not the 'right sort' - also I'm not sure £30k p/w are Championship wages...

Murphy 20K per week???. what is the average wage in the UK now, certainly higher than Spain but cannot be more than 50K per year...aaah just googled it, two working adults with two children average net wage is 31K per year!!!!

Average uk wage is about £23k per year, the money footballers get is ridiculous, it's just a spiral of them getting more money, the sponsors paying more, them getting more money and so on, the only way it'll ever stop is if they put a wage cap on teams. Imo all players should be paid a similar basic wage and then get apperance and performance pay, doubt SWP would have spent the last couple of years in the reserves if he was getting a fraction of the money!

It's certainly been refreshing news wise this last 48 hours. We can hopefully shed the tag Queens Park Riches.

It still remains to be seen who we get in on what sort of contracts but it looks like lessons have finally been learnt.

Onwards and upwards from now on hopefully!

Barcelona need a replacement for Xavi...
I saw their new ´hooped´ kit today, looks very nice but would be nicer with blue shorts me thinks.

Big changes afoot with Milan, Berlusconi selling up to the Saudis or someone. Which will probably mean that their general manager Galliani, a genius who has run the club for 30 years, will probably leave, and I think he was the one who was interested in Adel (if he was on the free side of cheap). I think they will set their sights a little higher now....and I'm pretty sure you weren't being serious Soops.

Seriously, there is no way we as a club can move forward till this dropkick is gone for good.
He will just hold up all that can be good as well as set a bad example to the new blood.
One bad apple will poison the barrel.
He is without doubt, a red flag situation .............TF, as a business man should see it as such.

Expect his contract to be terminated by mutual consent. Hate to see him rewarded for virtually being on strike but it is better than having a bad odour around the place next season.

I'm sure I heard from a source that Murphy was actually on £3,000 per week (i.e. £150,000 p/a) - and that he stayed at QPR as otherwise he would have dropped out of professional football altogether.

Let's face it at £150k per year, you've got to own your own business or work as an MD - so I can understand why he warmed up each Saturday for that kind of money.
